The Third Space: A Rooftop Movement Park in Udaipur
We turned this Udaipur rooftop into a playground for everyone, proving that movement should be about fun and connection, not just a workout.
This is the result of our parkour space design for The Third Space in Udaipur. The layout encourages fluid movement, with an athlete here demonstrating a sequence of jumps, swings, and vaults on the custom built structures.
A complete look at the rooftop facility in Udaipur, showing the parkour obstacles, safety flooring, and adjacent recreational areas. My goal was to create a cohesive environment that feels open and inviting for everyone, not just athletes.
Two athletes exploring the concrete walls and platforms we designed for the Udaipur project. The setup allows for both individual training and collaborative sessions, with varying heights and distances to challenge different skill levels.
The space in action during one of our community workshops. It was amazing to see people of different backgrounds come together to learn and play, proving that a well designed space can truly break down self imposed barriers to movement.
About Project Showcase: The Third Space, Udaipur
For this rooftop project, we balanced fixed concrete walls with movable bars to keep the space fresh. This setup allows absolute beginners to find their footing safely, while experienced practitioners can constantly reconfigure the obstacles to stay challenged as they progress.
Designing for 'The Third Space' in Udaipur was a unique challenge. The goal was to create a movement zone that acts as a community hub, not just a gym. We focused on a layout that invites curiosity, whether you are a local resident looking to move for the first time or a parkour athlete seeking a new flow.
Our Approach to Space Design
We start every project with a simple chat to understand your vision. For Udaipur, that meant prioritizing accessibility. We used heavy-duty GI pipes for optimal grip and installed 20mm rubber paver tiles in fall zones, ensuring that safety is built into the structure so you can focus on the play.
What we factored in:
- Site integration: Designing for rooftop load limits while ensuring stability.
- Flow: Arranging obstacles to encourage continuous movement sequences rather than disconnected jumps.
- Versatility: Mixing permanent concrete blocks with movable elements to ensure the space evolves as the community grows.
Whether you have a compact private terrace in Delhi or a large public park anywhere in India, we design spaces that strip away self-imposed barriers. The result is an environment that feels like a natural extension of the landscape, inviting everyone to jump, climb, and reconnect with their own agility.
