The interior planning of the Laxcon office creates visual porosity. A conference room is positioned to overlook the central triple-height void, maintaining a feeling of connection between different functional zones within the corporate building.
Glass bridges and extensive glazing connect the different levels of the Laxcon office. This strategy allows natural light to penetrate deep into the building and ensures that the various departments remain visually linked across the multi-story atrium.
An aerial view of a breakout space within the Laxcon office highlights the interplay of form, color, and texture. These informal zones are strategically placed within the larger architectural volume to encourage collaboration and interaction.
The reception area at the Laxcon office features a minimalist palette of ribbed oak paneling and exposed concrete. We integrated the client's own product, using stainless steel for partitions and structural elements to celebrate the company's identity.
The entrance to the Laxcon office is framed by imposing, textured concrete walls that guide visitors into the main building. The facade's brutalist character is softened by integrated lighting and surrounding landscape design.

About Project Spotlight: Laxcon Steel Plant Office, Ahmedabad
This project is a direct expression of the client's identity. We integrated the company's own steel products directly into the office interiors—using stainless steel for structural elements, partitions, and staircases—to celebrate the raw material alongside the finished output. This design strategy transforms a standard corporate workspace into a tangible reflection of the industrial operations happening on-site.
Architectural Strategy and Climate Response
Designing for Ahmedabad requires a specific response to the climate, as temperatures often exceed 45 degrees Celsius. Our approach for the Laxcon Steel Plant Office focuses on thermal mass and strategic shading. The facade is expressed as strong concrete expanses, utilizing a brutalist flavour that provides substantial thermal protection. We alleviated the heaviness of the concrete with a ribbed texture and integrated linear lighting, which mimics the motion streaks of vehicles passing the site at high speed.
Spatial Volumes and Porosity
The internal planning is defined by the orchestration of single, double, and triple-height adjacencies. These volumes create visual porosity, allowing the workforce to remain connected across different departments despite the scale of the building. Glass bridges and extensive glazing ensure natural light penetrates deep into the atrium, reducing reliance on artificial lighting while maintaining a connection to the exterior environment.
Materiality and Recognition
Beyond the concrete shell, the interior palette remains minimalist. We utilized oak paneling to soften the industrial nature of the materials. By incorporating the client's own scrap steel and finished stainless products into the design, we have created an environment that feels authentic to the business. This project was recognized as a Gold Winner at the 2023 IDA Design Awards, a testament to our commitment to creating industrial spaces that prioritize both functionality and visual impact.
