Zen and Bonsai Gardening Workshops
Slow down and reconnect with nature. Learn the art of balancing stillness and life in our hands-on Zen and Bonsai workshops held at our Doddakannelli studio.
Creating a Bonsai garden is an exercise in patience and artistry. This video shows how we combine a beautiful Ficus bonsai tree with a meditating statue, smooth white pebbles, and a cascading succulent to create a harmonious and balanced design.
You can create your own tranquil water feature with just a few simple items. In our workshops, we not only build gardens but also teach you simple DIY projects like this Zen fountain, using a terracotta bowl, a small pump, and water-loving plants like pothos and bamboo.
Find your moment of zen with our mini Zen garden workshop. This video shows the final look of a piece created in one of our sessions. We focus on combining different textures of succulents and moss with a calming Buddha statue to create a pocket of peace for your desk or home.
About Zen and Bonsai Sanctuaries
When you walk in for a workshop, we aren't just showing you how to pot a plant. We are teaching you how to build a landscape. You will spend two hours understanding soil layering, learning why we prune roots, and figuring out how to balance that Buddha statue against your succulents to create a scene that feels right for your home.
Whether you want a tiny, minimalist desktop Zen garden or a multi-year bonsai tree project, our sessions are about connection. You do not need a green thumb to start.
In our Zen sessions, we focus on the interplay of stone and plant. You will work with premium ceramic bowls, using gritty soil mixes specifically designed for cacti and succulents. It is about learning the concept of negative space—letting the tray breathe while grounding the Buddha figurine.
For those drawn to Bonsai, we take it up a notch. This is an exercise in patience. We work with 2-3 year old pre-bonsai trees like Ficus Ginseng or Jade. You will learn the basics of root pruning and how to wire a branch to create that aged, dramatic shape. You take home a living piece of art that keeps growing and evolving.
The best part is that you leave with a finished piece. No waiting, no homework later. Bring yourself, grab an apron, and get your hands in the soil. It is messy, it is grounding, and it is a perfect break from the usual city rush. We provide all the tools, plants, and materials, so you just need to bring your focus.
