Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living Spaces
We design spaces where the transition between your interior and exterior areas disappears. By aligning floor levels, lighting, and sightlines, we bring nature into your daily routine.
This bedroom was designed to feel like a retreat. The large, sliding glass door opens onto a private balcony, allowing the sights and sounds of the lush green outdoors to become a part of the room's serene atmosphere.
Featured in Architecture+Design magazine, this view of the master bedroom highlights the channel tufted headboard in a calming blue. The design intentionally draws the eye towards the balcony and the green canopy beyond, emphasizing the indoor outdoor connection.
From the same Gurugram residence, the living room features full height glass doors that lead to a landscaped balcony. This design choice not only floods the space with natural light but also extends the living area into the outdoors.
An example of integrating raw, natural elements into an urban setting. This hand carved stone sink on a balcony provides a functional feature while adding an earthy, organic texture that contrasts with the city view reflected in the mirror.
Even during construction, the potential of a space is clear. This bay window was designed specifically to frame the view of the trees, turning the natural landscape into a living piece of art for the room.
About Blurring Indoors and Out
When we blur the lines between indoors and out, the primary challenge is the threshold. We focus on matching floor levels exactly between your living room and balcony and selecting the right glazing profile for sliding glass doors so you do not have a bulky frame disrupting the sightline. This is not just about aesthetics. It is about technical precision—ensuring your floor drains manage water during monsoons and your living area remains completely weather-tight.
Our approach to connecting spaces relies on deliberate architectural planning rather than just placing a few plants outside. In our project 'A Haven of Peace' in Gurugram, we utilized full-height glass doors to essentially eliminate the visual barrier between the master bedroom and the private balcony. This choice required careful coordination with the structural team to ensure that the flooring transition was flush, preventing any awkward step-ups that break the flow.
We treat the balcony or terrace as an extension of your living room, not a separate entity. This means the lighting scheme must be continuous. We design the interior and exterior lighting to work in tandem—using soft, ambient lighting indoors and precise up-lighters on the balcony to draw the eye outward at night.
Beyond visual continuity, we account for the practical realities of the Indian climate. We incorporate waterproofing systems that allow us to use the same material palette for both internal floors and external decks without risking seepage. Whether we are planning a compact balcony renovation or a master-planned farmhouse, we handle the technical documentation—including drainage slope analysis and plumbing layouts—so the design you see on paper functions perfectly in the rain and heat.
