First Birthday Cake Smash Sessions

The cake smash is the highlight, but it is actually part of a three-part flow in my Kurla studio. We start with clean, formal portraits, move to the cake, and finish with a warm, bubble-filled tub splash. I handle the entire cleanup process afterwards, so you leave with your photos and a clean baby.

The Three-Part Flow

Every session is designed to capture the full spectrum of a first birthday. We begin with formal, classic portraits of your baby—sometimes with you and your partner—to get those timeless shots while everyone is fresh. Once the little one is comfortable, we move to the messy part. Whether it is a cake smash or a fruit bath, this is where the genuine expressions happen.

Finally, we end with the 'splash.' I set up a vintage tub with warm water and bubbles. It serves two purposes: it gets the frosting off, and it gives us some of the most candid, playful shots of the entire day.

Why the Setup Works

I prefer to keep the decor simple and baby-led. You will see balloons, bunting, and 'ONE' letters in my portfolio, but the focus remains entirely on your child. Because safety is a priority, I ask that you bring the cake from your trusted bakery to avoid any allergy issues. If you prefer, I can arrange a dummy cake for the aesthetic at an extra cost.

Preparing for Your Shoot

• Pacing: I follow your child's rhythm. If they need a break, we take one. There is no rushing to stay on the clock.
• Studio Environment: My studio in Kurla is fully equipped for these sessions, including specialised rompers for the baby.
• Professional Editing: Every session includes 20 fully edited high-resolution images, provided via a private online gallery.
