Student Stories: Resilience and Martial Arts Success
Martial arts at our school is not about collecting medals, but about what you build within yourself. Meet our students who turned physical and personal challenges into lifelong strength.
A moment of sportsmanship and victory after a tough bout. Our student T D Ramalingam, who overcame a physical disability, celebrates with his coach and opponent, embodying the respect and dedication we instill in our fighters.
Poondhanam Velayudan, a 22-year veteran Black Belt of our school, rests between rounds. His journey highlights the importance of mental sharpness and resilience, core principles he learned and now passes on to junior students.
About this collection
Success on these mats isn't determined by your initial fitness level or how many years you've spent in a gym. It is determined by the commitment to show up. Take T D Ramalingam, who trained with us despite the limitations of a polio-affected leg. He didn't come here for a quick fix; he came for a process that required him to rework his balance and movement from the ground up over the course of a year.
The stories shared here—from Poondhanam Velayudan’s 22-year journey to the resilience of our students in the boxing ring—reflect the reality of training at The School of Martial Arts in Koramangala. We don't promise overnight transformation. We provide a structured environment for long-term development.
Our training, conducted at the St. Francis School grounds, focuses on the fundamentals of boxing, Muay Thai, and MMA. Whether you are aiming for our 2-year vocational boxing diploma or simply want to improve your personal fitness, the curriculum remains consistent. We prioritize technical precision, breathing, and mental sharpness over raw power.

The School of Martial Arts
I’m Ashwin. I’ve spent 26 years building this school, not to create fighters who beat others, but to help people conquer their own limits. Whether you are 15 or 55, when you step onto my mats in Koramangala, the only person you are competing against is who you were yesterday.
