Festival Fun and Cultural Celebrations for Kids
We believe festivals are the best classrooms. From Ramleela enactments to Ganesh Chaturthi crafts, we bring traditions to life so kids learn, play, and celebrate together.
As part of our Dussehra celebrations, we have a movie screening of the Ramayana. It's a great way for children to experience the epic story in a visual format.

About Festival Fun & Celebrations
When you join us for a festival, don't expect a boring lecture or a quiet room. We are usually knee-deep in glitter, glue, and cardboard, helping kids build their own Ramayana puppets or decorating clay Ganeshas. It is all about that khel khel mein seekhna (learning while playing) vibe where culture becomes second nature to them.
Bringing Traditions to Life
Festivals at The Reading Room aren't just about the date on the calendar; they are about giving children a sense of belonging and community. We strip away the screens and focus on stories, art, and interaction. Whether it is performing a shadow puppet Ramleela for Dussehra or learning the story of Janmashtami through interactive videos and discussion, we make sure the kids understand the 'why' behind the celebration.
Why Our Approach Works
- Active Participation: We don't just talk at the kids. They create their own festival crafts, from Ganesh masks to Christmas ornaments, keeping their hands busy and their minds engaged.
- Community Building: Our space in Sector 39 becomes a hub for kids to meet, make friends, and celebrate together, which helps them build confidence and social skills.
- Inclusive Fun: We celebrate both Indian and global festivals. It is a fantastic way for kids to develop a broader worldview while staying grounded in local traditions.
What to Expect
If you drop by during a festive season, you will find our library space transformed. Expect messy tables, laughing children, and lots of pride when they show you what they have created. We keep the groups manageable so every child gets attention. It is loud, it is fun, and it is exactly how a festival should feel for a child.
The Reading Room
We’re The Reading Room, a space started by Riddhika to get kids excited about more than just screens. We focus on real-world experiences where kids make friends, get messy with craft supplies, and learn about our culture through fun, interactive sessions.
