Festive Craft & Storytelling Workshops for Kids
We make festivals extra special by blending stories with hands-on creativity. Join us at the library for workshops where kids mold, paint, and tell stories together.
The creative highlight of our Christmas party was this 'Build Your Own Santa' craft activity. It was wonderful to see children and parents working together, pouring their hearts into their creations. Every single Santa was unique and full of personality!
The room was buzzing with excitement as we formed a 'Christmas Train' and paraded around the library singing festive songs. This picture captures the pure, uninhibited joy that makes our celebrations so special and memorable for the children.
Our Ganesh Chaturthi celebration is always full of joy, laughter, and devotion. This video shows the children participating in stories, games, and even a little dance. It's a day where we learn about our traditions in the most fun way possible.
The joy of making your own Ganesha idol and taking him home is truly special. This video captures the energy of our 'Ganpati ki Gaathayein' event, from the storytelling to the hands-on clay modeling. These are the moments that create lasting memories.
Before the children arrived, we made sure everything was perfect for our Ganpati. We set up this beautiful space to welcome him and get ready to share his wonderful stories. The atmosphere was filled with devotion and anticipation.
About Festive Celebrations & Craft Workshops
I limit these festive workshops to just 8 kids so everyone gets space to get messy and creative. Whether we are molding clay Ganeshas or gluing Santa beards, my focus is on the process, not perfection. Kids leave these sessions with a tangible creation and a story they helped tell, rather than just another craft project.
Festivals are the perfect time to get kids off screens and into the rhythm of stories and making. At Treasure Trove, we approach celebrations like Ganesh Chaturthi or Christmas not just as parties, but as entry points into our culture and creative expression.
How our festive sessions work
We don't just hand out supplies and let kids work in silence. Every workshop follows a specific flow:
- Storytelling first: Every craft starts with a story. We talk about why we celebrate, where the traditions come from, and what the characters feel. This builds context before the hands-on fun begins.
- Small group dynamics: With a cap of 8 children per session, I can actually sit with each child. If a kid struggles to mold their Ganesha or needs help with a tricky Santa hat, I am right there to guide them. It takes the stress out of 'getting it right'.
- Community vibe: These sessions are about sharing. We often do group singing, trivia, or parading around the library, which helps even the shyer children open up and feel part of the group.
Why focus on hands-on crafts?
Between our 25,000 books and the creative writing we do, we know that kids learn best when they are active. When a child makes a clay idol or a paper ornament, they are working on fine motor skills and patience. Plus, they take home something they built themselves, which gives them a massive boost of confidence. We host these sessions in our Sector 50 space in Gurgaon, which is carpeted, safe, and filled with books—the perfect environment to let imaginations run wild.
