Textured & 3D Canvas Art

byRimjhimStudio in Harlur, BengaluruView full gallery

I love adding depth and dimension to my paintings, making them an experience you can almost feel. From mountain landscapes to vibrant florals, I use palette knives, sculpture paste, and mixed media to create art with a life of its own.

Creating a serene koi pond scene using a ready-to-paint base and clay molds for the 3D lotus leaves and fish.

This piece features a flamingo brought to life with texture paste, set against a vibrant, abstract background.

A mix-media artwork in the making, combining clay, texture paste, and knife painting to create a lively koi pond with 3D elements.

I love capturing the beach. This textured ocean art uses real sand and moss to create a realistic shoreline with crashing waves.

Another piece from my beach collection, this one features personalized initials carved into the sand, making it a perfect custom gift.

My love for textures has taken another level. This piece uses two types of sand, moss, and a tiny boat to create a miniature island escape.

As an artist, I'm always learning. Here I am exploring Russian sculpture art, a technique that allows for creating incredibly detailed 3D flowers.

About this collection

A lot of people ask how I get that 2cm depth on a canvas. It is a mix of heavy-body acrylics, specialty sculpture paste, and even fabric scraps. I do not believe in perfectly smooth surfaces. I want the knife strokes to be visible and the textures to feel real, whether you are looking at a mountain range or a field of flowers.

Making Art You Can Feel

My approach to canvas art is simple, if I can touch the texture, the art is alive. Whether I am using professional modeling paste to build up 3D relief flowers or layering fabric on wood to create sea waves, my goal is to break the barrier between a painting and the viewer.

Why I Love Mixed Media

I do not just paint, I experiment. A big part of my studio practice in Harlur, Bengaluru, involves trial and error. Sometimes I try to create fabric texture on a wooden plank and it does not go as planned, but I always find a way to improvise. That is the beauty of working with sculpture paste and palette knives. You get a raw, stroke-visible finish that flat acrylics just cannot replicate.

How We Customize

Every piece I create on a 18x24 inch canvas is made to order.

  • 3D Sculpture: I use specialized paste to create relief art that pops up to 2cm off the canvas, perfect for statement walls.
  • Palette Knife Work: This gives a rich, vibrant energy to landscapes, birds, or abstract textures.
  • Upcycling: If you have an old canvas gathering dust, do not toss it. I can sand it down, prime it with Gesso, and create a brand-new textured landscape right over it.

If you are looking for something that adds a tactile, 3D element to your living room or office, let us chat. We can discuss your vision, the colour palette that fits your home, and how we can make your wall a conversation starter.
