About Contemporary Sitar Fusion
While my foundation is classical, my fusion sets are designed to cut through the noise of a party or corporate event. I plug my sitar directly into the house sound system with a high-quality pickup, which lets me match the intensity of a DJ or a live band without losing the natural tone of the instrument.
Many people hear 'sitar' and think of a low-volume, meditative setup. That is not the case here. My fusion sets are built for weddings, cocktail hours, and stage shows where the energy needs to be high. I work closely with DJs, percussionists, and even dancers to curate a set that fits the mood, whether you want 90s Bollywood hits with a rock twist or contemporary lounge beats.
From a technical standpoint, this is a different game than a classical baithak. I use a professional pickup system that feeds into your venue's PA, ensuring that even in a crowded space, the sitar sits perfectly in the mix alongside bass and drums.
