Smart Storage & Multifunctional Design Solutions
Your home shouldn't be cluttered to be functional. See how we use clever engineering—from hidden cabinetry to rotating TV units—to turn tight layouts into seamless, airy living spaces.
This curved structural column in the Lumen House dining room was transformed into a functional art piece. It's a large, concealed cabinet that provides extensive storage for dining essentials, perfectly camouflaged to maintain the room's minimalist flow.
In the Lumen House entrance, we designed grooved wall panels that double as sleek, handle-less storage cabinets. This approach conceals everything from cleaning tools to the main electrical box, achieving a completely seamless and uncluttered corridor.
For smaller bedrooms where space is a premium, we designed this concealed dressing unit that fits within an 8-inch deep niche. A front-lit, adjustable mirror opens to reveal storage for essentials, then closes to become a flush part of the wardrobe.
This custom-designed table in the Lumen House master bedroom caters to our client's love for music and need for a workspace. A pivoting flap conceals a harmonium, while the cantilevered design allows it to function as a two-sided study desk.
To maximize utility in the Project Acropolis kitchen, we engineered a retractable table and seating for two that pulls out from the drawer system. This provides a convenient breakfast nook or extra counter space without permanently taking up floor area.
A view of the Project Acropolis kitchen with the custom pull-out table and chairs fully retracted. The handle-less cabinetry and clean lines demonstrate how our functional solutions disappear completely, preserving the kitchen's sleek aesthetic.
We designed this guest room in Project Acropolis to function as both a bedroom and a family lounge. The key is the central TV console with a rotating screen, allowing for comfortable viewing from either the bed or the sofa area.
About this collection
Take our Lumen House project: that curved dining wall isn't just an architectural statement. It is a completely camouflaged steel cabinet. By designing storage that mimics structural elements, we keep your essential dining accessories close without the visual noise of traditional cupboards.
Architecture That Works Harder
In dense urban centers, space is a premium. At Tank Design, we avoid the 'empty' minimalist look by focusing on high-utility engineering. Our approach to smart storage and multifunctional design is about hiding function in plain sight, ensuring your home remains a calm, uncluttered oasis.
How We Engineer Functionality
- Hidden Utility: In our projects like Lumen House, we turn dead space into active storage. Our dressing units are built into just 8 inches of niche space, featuring front-lit mirrors that tuck away completely. We also integrate electrical boxes and cleaning tools into fluted wall panels, so your corridor remains visually seamless.
- Dynamic Furniture: Your furniture should adapt to your day. We’ve engineered rotating TV consoles that serve both the guest bedroom and the family lounge, effectively dividing a single room into two distinct functional zones. Similarly, our retractable kitchen tables provide a breakfast nook or counter space that disappears into the drawer system when not in use.
- Precision Joinery: We fabricate these solutions in-house to ensure the finishes match the rest of your apartment. Whether it is a cantilevered table for a harmonium in a master bedroom or a pivoting flap for a study desk, every piece is designed to solve a specific problem in your daily routine.
Our design philosophy is that luxury is defined by how effortlessly a space supports your lifestyle, not by the amount of furniture it contains. By prioritizing clever millwork and smart room layouts, we ensure your home feels generous, regardless of its square footage.
