The Karnival: Haunted 3D Horror Worlds

Step inside my latest nightmare. The Karnival is a collection of decaying attractions and twisted characters, built for those who want their horror with a story.

The initial teaser image for "The Karnival." I used a dark, foggy atmosphere with the faint outline of carnival tents to create a sense of mystery and hint at the horrors within, setting the stage for the series.

This cinematic sneak peek reveals more of the abandoned carnival grounds. The silhouette of a character holding a weapon against the backdrop of decaying tents establishes a narrative of survival in this haunted place.

A first-person view from inside the haunted Ferris wheel, "Karnival's Eye." I modeled the complex metal structure and used vibrant, contrasting neon lights to create a disorienting and hypnotic ride.

An exterior shot of the fully modeled Ferris wheel. I focused on the lighting and atmosphere, setting the ride against a dark, cloudy night to make it feel both beautiful and menacing, a centerpiece of the haunted park.

This animated short introduces the Joker, a key character who haunts the funhouse. His contorted pose and unsettling movements were designed to be unnatural, reflecting the twisted nature of the Karnival itself.

A scene from the tunnels beneath the Karnival. I created this piece to show the hidden parts of the world, focusing on the grimy, wet environment and a gaunt creature crawling towards a stark light source.

Another view of the underbelly, this time with the creature interacting with the fetid water. The reflection in the water adds depth to the scene, emphasizing the filth and despair of this forgotten part of the park.

About this collection

When I build these scenes, I don't just focus on the jump scare. I use Unreal Engine 5’s Lumen for real-time lighting to get that specific abandoned atmosphere—like the way light hits the rusted metal on the Ferris wheel or the fog rolling through the tunnel pipes. It is all about making the viewer feel the decay before they even see the creature.

The Karnival is an ongoing project born from the idea that fear is most effective when it has a history. While the Ferris wheel might look like a centerpiece from a distance, the real narrative lies in the underbelly—the tunnels where I model wet, grimy textures and gaunt creatures to suggest a world that has been rotting for decades.

My Process

I build these worlds to be functional for various media, whether you need a static 5K render for an album cover or a 30-second animated loop for a music festival visual. Every scene is crafted with a clear logic:

  • Atmosphere: I prioritize environmental storytelling using volumetric fog, dust particles, and dynamic lighting. The goal is to make the location feel like a character itself.
  • Character Lore: Every monster, from the survivors in the tunnels to the figures haunting the rides, starts with a written backstory. This ensures the 3D sculpt—from the subsurface scattering on the skin to the specific pose—feels intentional rather than random.
  • Technical Pipeline: I work primarily in Blender and Unreal Engine. For clients, this means I can deliver high-fidelity static frames or performance-ready animated loops that fit seamlessly into your existing projects.

Collaboration

I am always looking to partner with musicians, filmmakers, and game developers who need a specific, twisted aesthetic. Whether you have a concept that needs to be brought to life or want me to interpret your track through a horror-inspired visualizer, I work as an extension of your creative team. Let's see what kind of nightmare we can build together.
