My studio in Kodambakkam is a 600 sq. ft. sanctuary designed for movement, practice, and creativity. Whether you need a dedicated spot for your Bharatanatyam rehearsals, a clean backdrop for video shoots, or a space to host small workshops, this minimalist studio is ready for you.
Welcome to my studio! I created this space in the heart of Chennai for dancers, creators, and artists to have a place to focus and create. Come on in, I'll show you around.
Here are all the details about the studio. You get a 600 sq. ft. clean, rectangular space with professional wooden flooring, a full-length mirror, AC, and even a ring light and tripod for your shoots.
The minimalist design with clean white walls and professional wooden flooring provides a distraction-free environment, perfect for solo practice and getting into your creative zone.
The studio is spacious enough to comfortably host large group rehearsals and workshops. Here you can see a full class in session during one of our Adavu meet-ups.
The full-length wall mirror is essential for refining technique and checking your alignment. It covers the entire wall, giving you a perfect reflection from any angle in the room.
The space is perfect for hosting your own classes or workshops. Here I am, leading a session for my students, with everyone having enough room to observe and practice.
The studio's plain white background and professional flooring make it an ideal location for shooting dance videos. This is a spontaneous jam session that shows how great collaborations look on camera here.
About Featured
This isn't just a rental, it's a space I have built to be a true extension of your practice. The 600 sq. ft. wooden floor is specifically installed to protect your joints during intense rhythmic footwork, while the plain white walls ensure the visual focus remains entirely on your performance, not on background clutter.
Designed for Dancers
When I set up Vivartana in Kodambakkam, I wanted to create a space that removed the obstacles dancers often face. The wooden laminate flooring is impact-absorbent, making it safe for barefoot practice and extensive rhythmic drills like Tattadavu. The long wall of floor-to-ceiling mirrors allows for precise technique checks, while the bright, minimalist aesthetic keeps your rehearsal footage clean and professional.
More Than Just a Rehearsal Room
While this is my home for Bharatanatyam classes, the studio functions as a blank canvas for many artists. The setup includes:
- AC and climate control: Essential for Chennai weather, ensuring you stay focused during long sessions.
- Content creation gear: I provide a ring light and a sturdy tripod, so you don't have to carry your own equipment for filming Reels or tutorials.
- Privacy: A dedicated changing room allows you to switch costumes easily between practice and filming.
Practical Notes for Booking
To keep the space clean for everyone, I maintain a strict no-food-or-drink policy inside the main studio area. Please note that the studio is located on an upper floor, and access is by staircase only. While there is no dedicated building parking, you will find ample spots on the main road nearby. Whether you are prepping for an Arangetram, organizing a small workshop, or just need a private place to jam, the studio is ready to support your creative journey.
