A look into how I create my designs, from hand-mixing fresh, organic henna to the patterns I love to draw.

Mehendi is not just an art, it's an emotion. I love creating these intricate net patterns.

About My Art & Process

The secret to my designs is not just the pattern, it is the paste. I mix my own organic henna cones at home using natural, safe ingredients with no chemicals or preservatives. This ensures you get that rich, deep maroon stain that stays for days, which is why I am so particular about making them fresh right before every session.

For me, mehendi is more than just a service, it is my therapy and my passion. When I am not creating designs for clients, you will likely find me at my desk, sketching new motifs on paper or experimenting with the consistency of my henna paste.

The Creative Ritual

Every design you see, whether it is a delicate floral vine or a bold Gulf-style pattern, begins with a sketch. I believe that practice is essential, so I often test new ideas on paper to get the flow and spacing just right before applying them to skin. This preparation allows me to be more efficient and precise when we meet for your actual appointment.

My Organic Commitment

I am very protective of my process. Because I use my own homemade henna cones, I have total control over what goes onto your skin. I use high-quality, organic ingredients infused with essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus, which gives the paste its beautiful scent and ensures a safe experience for everyone—kids, pregnant women, and those with sensitive skin.

Why Process Matters

When you book me, you are getting more than just an artist. You are getting someone who cares deeply about the end result. Proper aftercare is part of my process too. I will always guide you on how to care for your henna so you can achieve that perfect, dark mahogany stain that everyone loves. If you have a specific vision or a reference photo, share it with me beforehand. I love the challenge of customizing a design so that it truly feels like yours.

I am Sumaiya, the hands behind Henna Tales. For me, mehendi is pure joy and therapy, not just work. I am happiest when I am creating designs, whether it is a simple floral vine or a complex piece, and I truly believe that using organic ingredients is the best way to honor this beautiful tradition.
