About Meet the Band: The Folks of Sufi Folks
When you book us, you are not hiring a backing track or a soloist. You are getting a full 10-to-13 piece live ensemble, including live percussion, bass, keys, and a dedicated sound engineer. This setup ensures that our 'mehfil' (gathering) atmosphere is authentic, with every beat and note performed live in the moment rather than pre-recorded.
Our sound is built on the interplay between traditional Indian roots and modern musical energy. At the core, we blend the deep, rhythmic traditions of the tabla and dholak with the driving power of a western drum kit, bass guitar, and keys. This specific configuration allows us to shift gears from a slow, spiritual ghazal session to a high-octane Bollywood dance set without ever losing the melody.
