Bespoke Bedroom Interior Architecture
A bedroom is more than just a place to sleep; it is the most personal sanctuary in your home. I design private retreats that balance quiet minimalism with the warmth of natural materials, turning every square foot into a narrative of comfort and calm.
For this holiday home bedroom, the mood board was all about sun and waves. We used a cool palette of blues and whites, natural cane headboards, and striped fabrics to evoke a breezy, tropical feeling, perfect for a peaceful escape.
An inconspicuous door in the living room wall slides open to reveal the master bedroom. The design creates a seamless transition, with the stark black, white, and grey color palette of the bedroom offering a sophisticated contrast to the tan leather bed.
In the 'Aria' master bedroom, we crafted this beautiful in-situ flooring from IPS and marble. The geometric pattern provides a stunning base for the classic black four-poster bed, showcasing our belief that every surface, even the floor, is an opportunity for design.
This guest room features a dramatic Marsala red curved ceiling, detailed with a stark black molding. We designed a sleek, indirect lighting system using a custom wooden rod to cast a dim, warm glow, creating a modern and moody ambiance.
The mother's bedroom features a hand-carved oak wood headboard and wardrobes wrapped in sand-stained wood and cane. The arched mirror and custom totem-like floor lamp, made from plywood offcuts, add a unique, geometric elegance to the space.
About Bedrooms: Personal Sanctuaries
True comfort in a bedroom comes from the details you rarely see. Whether it is a concealed door paneling that hides your wardrobe to maintain visual silence, or a carefully calculated light fixture that warms the room without harsh glare, I prioritize the mechanics of rest. We focus on how your space feels at 2 AM, not just how it looks in a magazine, ensuring every surface, from the floor to the headboard, contributes to a state of complete ease.
Architecture of Rest
Designing a bedroom requires a shift in mindset. It is not about the grand statement, but about the tactile experience of your environment. My approach is rooted in Zen-inspired minimalism, where we strip away the noise to let the story of the space emerge. This often involves using natural materials like hand-stained wood, breathable cane, and In-situ IPS flooring that feels cool and grounded underfoot.
The Art of Hidden Functionality
Space is often limited, but storage should never feel intrusive. I specialize in designing joinery that vanishes into the walls. By using paneling as wardrobe shutters and integrating storage into passageways, we eliminate visual clutter. This creates a serene canvas that allows you to breathe, sleep, and reflect without the distraction of everyday mess.
Materiality & Mood
Every bedroom I design is a distinct project. For holiday homes, I lean into tropical palettes—cool blues and whites that mirror the sea. In urban apartments, we might opt for darker, moody tones or bold sculptural elements like a curved ceiling detailed with black molding.
We look at the bedroom as a composition of light and texture:
- Lighting: I avoid standard false ceilings. Instead, we use architectural track lighting or custom-built timber fixtures to cast a soft, ambient glow.
- Furniture: From four-poster beds on bespoke stone floors to totem-like floor lamps made from workshop offcuts, every piece is built to be a one-off.
Ultimately, my goal is to construct a room that holds your moments. Whether it is a quiet morning with coffee on a custom teak swing or winding down in a room that feels like a private escape, the design serves the life you live within these walls.
