Custom Material Crafting and Design Details
True luxury is found in the physical texture of a home. I focus on on-site fabrication, turning raw materials into custom sculptural features, seamless storage, and unique finishes that tell your personal story.
Upon entering the 'Aria' home, guests are greeted by this terracotta red sculptural wall, which we call 'The Melting Candle'. Hand-carved from plaster, it obstructs the full view, creating intrigue and setting an artistic tone from the very first step.
A close-up of 'The Melting Candle' wall, showing how the hand-carved plaster sinuously flows onto the floor like melted wax. This detail transforms a simple wall into a dynamic, sculptural element that anchors the entire entryway.
To avoid a false ceiling, we designed this custom lighting solution where a wooden rod wraps around a metal rod. It provides a source of indirect light, casting a dim glow onto the Marsala-colored ceiling and acting as a minimalist sculptural piece.
A detail shot from our Powai House project, showcasing the interplay of textures and patterns. The bold, graphic black-and-white design contrasts with the simple, clean lines of the white paneled wall, highlighting our focus on corners and details.
This wall is clad in paneling inspired by Japanese shoji screens, using thin teak wood verticals and black metal batons. It discreetly hides several doors and storage spaces, creating an illusion of a single, continuous surface that adds length to the passageway.
Inspired by the minimalist Wabi-Sabi aesthetic, this dining space features a sleek bench-style seating. The simple Indian marble top table and striped cushions create a look that is clean, intentional, and beautifully understated.
The kitchen is revealed through glass screens that open like a shoji, connecting it to the dining area. This detail shows the olive green and wood-clad cabinetry, a part of our commitment to using natural colors and materials even in functional spaces.
This image captures the custom-patterned wooden door and a rotating cane swing in our 'Home' project. These elements demonstrate how we blend bespoke woodwork with playful, functional pieces to create a space that is both beautiful and livable.
About Bespoke Craft: Materials & Details
The first thing you notice in a well-designed home is the texture under your fingertips. Take my terracotta sculptural walls, for instance—hand-carved from plaster and finished with IPS, they act as the heartbeat of the space rather than just room dividers. Whether it is a feature wall that flows into the floor or a storage system that vanishes into the architecture, I build these elements on-site to ensure they fit the exact rhythm of your life, rather than relying on factory-made, off-the-shelf installations.
My process strips away the generic to reveal what is essential. I believe a home should feel raw and honest, which is why I often replace synthetic finishes with traditional options like Leather-finished Kadappa stone or In-situ IPS flooring.
Why On-Site Fabrication Matters
When we build furniture or joinery on-site, we are not just installing cabinets; we are framing your lifestyle. We use premium solid Teak wood and rattan, weaving them into functional art. By avoiding false ceilings and using architectural track lighting, we reclaim the vertical space that makes a city apartment feel airy and open.
Our Material Palette
- Texture and Light: We play with fluted wood, lime plaster, and burnt finishes to create depth in small rooms.
- Hidden Functionality: My storage designs are integrated into passageways and wall panels, making bulky cupboards disappear to maintain clean lines.
- Japanese Influence: The use of shoji-inspired screens allows us to control light and privacy, creating flexible zones that open and close based on your daily needs.
Every project starts with a conversation about what you actually use. If you want a space that breathes and evolves with you, let us discuss how to translate your story into these tactile details.
