Artful Bathrooms and Unique Powder Room Designs
A bathroom should be more than a utility zone; it is a canvas for your personal narrative. I approach every design by blending tactile stone, artistic murals, and thoughtful lighting to turn your daily routine into a moment of quiet pause.
This bathroom in the 'Aria' project is a continuation of the home's artistic narrative. A hand-painted mural flows into a dark, cave-like shower space, while a custom-carved green marble sink stands as a functional sculpture.
The powder toilet in 'Aria' is all about drama. A 'Kings and Queens' artwork wraps the upper walls, contrasted with beautiful Indian granite below. The deep, muddy background and indirect light create a theatrical and memorable space for guests.
A detail from the 'Aria' master bathroom, where the walls themselves are the art. The reflection in the custom-shaped mirrors reveals the Van Gogh-inspired china mosaic, while the Jaisalmer stone basin adds another layer of natural, earthy texture.
To complement the master bedroom, this bathroom is clad in black Marquina and custom white alabaster marble. The clean lines, balanced composition, and brass accents create a look of timeless luxury and sophistication.
This sun-lit bathroom in a Goa villa uses Vanilla stone tiles and Jaisalmer stone to create a warm, natural feel. A monolithic cream IPS divider separates the shower and WC areas, maintaining an open and airy atmosphere.
The son's bathroom in the Goa holiday home is a playful combination of black and white tiles. We paired this classic pattern with a walnut vanity counter and a quirky cane mirror to add a touch of tropical charm.
About Artful Bathrooms & Powder Rooms
I focus on the tactile details—like hand-carved Jaisalmer stone basins, custom murals, and indirect lighting—to create rooms that feel like a private gallery. Whether it is a compact city powder room or a sprawling master bath, I ensure the layout prioritizes flow, hiding the functional necessities behind bespoke joinery so the art remains the focal point.
In the city, we often fight for every square inch, and bathrooms are frequently the first place we compromise. I treat them differently. By focusing on monolithic materials like Indian Patent Stone (IPS) and local natural stone, I create a sense of scale even in compact rooms.
For master bathrooms, I prefer a serene, minimalist approach. We might use black Marquina marble paired with alabaster, relying on clean lines and hidden storage to maintain an uncluttered visual plane. In contrast, powder rooms offer the freedom for drama. This is where we experiment with darker palettes, intense textures, and custom murals, like the 'Kings and Queens' artwork I recently integrated into a residential project.
Technical details are where the artistry stays grounded. Waterproofing, precise slope management for drainage, and seamless joinery for vanity units are standard parts of my process. I prioritize lighting that highlights texture—shadows cast on stone surfaces or the soft glow behind a mirror—to enhance the mood. Whether it is a sun-drenched villa bathroom in Goa or a moody powder room in Mumbai, my goal is to ensure the space feels lived-in and deeply personal.
