Bespoke Artisanal Swings for Modern Homes
Swings are more than simple seating; they are functional anchors for rest. I design these pieces to be sculptural elements that bring rhythm and quiet to your home.
We designed this two-seater swing for a beach house, a perfect spot to feel the ocean breeze. Made with weather-resistant fabric and a sturdy frame, it’s a piece of our outdoor collection that brings comfort and style to any scenic location.
This is our four-seater daybed swing from the modular 'Lego' outdoor collection. It’s designed for ultimate relaxation on a terrace or in a large balcony, offering a spacious and comfortable spot for the whole family to enjoy the open air.
For this Goan villa, we created a serene corner with a classic wooden swing. Set within an arched verandah, it becomes an invitation to slow down and unwind. The design uses natural wood and simple chains, blending perfectly with the tropical, relaxed aesthetic.
This modular outdoor swing from our Lego Collection is designed to be a personal sanctuary. We imagined a piece that could fit perfectly into a garden or balcony, offering a space to unwind as the sun sets. It’s custom-built with durable materials to become a part of your story for years to come.
A swing isn't just for the outdoors. We designed this beautiful rotatable swing for a lounge space, using natural cane and plush cushions. It becomes a cozy, dynamic nook for reading or simply enjoying a quiet moment, adding a touch of playfulness to the interior.
A preview of our 'Swingers' collection for India Design ID. This piece showcases our exploration of form and comfort, combining plush upholstery with a sleek, suspended frame to create a modern, sculptural indoor swing.
This design highlights our commitment to material and form. The swing combines a woven cane base with a strong metal frame and a comfortable upholstered seat, creating a piece that is both visually light and structurally sound for any modern home.
About this collection
When selecting a swing, the most critical decision is whether your space can handle a ceiling-suspended model or if it needs a floor-standing base. I often find that for modern apartments with false ceilings, a floor-standing rocker, my signature Teak and Cane design, offers the same gentle motion without the need for any structural drilling into your roof.
My approach to swings is rooted in the belief that every object should tell a story. Whether it is a modular daybed for your terrace or a rotatable indoor nook, the goal is to create a piece that feels lived-in and honest.
Crafting the Piece
I work primarily with Burma Teak because of its durability and rich, warming grain. For the details, I lean into rattan and cane, collaborating with local artisans to achieve that perfect, supple weave. My 'Lego' collection, which you can see in the gallery, was born out of a desire for modularity. It allows the swing to adapt, letting you mix and match seating units for balconies or gardens.
For the Interiors
Indoor swings require a different narrative. These pieces often feature brass joinery and 40D high-density foam, ensuring they serve as comfortable lounge chairs rather than just playful additions. I design them to be sculptural, often exploring circular or angular forms that contrast with the static lines of your living room furniture.
Why Custom Matters
Because I avoid mass production, each swing is a dialogue between your space and my drafting board. We discuss the wood finish, from charred 'Shou Sugi Ban' to natural matte oil, and the fabric selection, typically staying within earthy linens or bouclé textures. This process takes time, but it ensures that the piece you receive is not just furniture, but a permanent fixture of your sanctuary.
Studio Nishita Kamdar
I see swings as pieces of functional joy, the heart of a moment. My studio focuses on blending Burma Teak with honest materials like rattan and brass to create rockers that do not just sit in a room, they define it.
