Delight in the Details: Creative Design by Studio Ruh
It is never just about the furniture. We believe the true soul of a space is found in the tiny, thoughtful touches that turn a daily routine into a moment of discovery.
The hand wash station adjacent to the dining hall is clean, functional, and fun. We used patterned floor tiles and a striped wall detail to add a pop of color and personality to this practical space.
A friendly pixelated bunny made of tiles greets children in this washroom. This playful detail turns a utilitarian space into a moment of delight and discovery.
A child walks past a large sloth mural made entirely of colored tiles. We designed a different animal for each floor's washroom, creating a fun and memorable experience for the students.
This washroom features a giant goose made from blue and white tiles. Even the door has a small, playful graphic, showing our commitment to detail in every corner.
A festive reindeer, complete with a red nose, adorns the wall of this washroom. The painstaking arrangement of tiles to create these images was a labor of love that brings so much joy.
A peek into a staff room from the corridor. The use of soft colors and wooden signage creates a professional yet welcoming environment for the teachers and staff.
Simple, clear, and playful signage on the doors. A small graphic icon for a spatula indicates a utility room, while a universal accessibility symbol is used for another, ensuring the design is intuitive for all.
About this collection
We do not just slap a sign on a door and call it a day. For the washrooms at Sri Kumaran School, we mapped out tile-by-tile pixel art—from friendly bunnies to sloths—so every floor feels like a new, welcoming world for the students. It is those small, intentional moments of delight that make a space feel cared for.
We often say that a project is just a structure until you add the 'rūh'—the soul. For us, this is all about the details that people often overlook. In educational design, we see corridors, stairwells, and even washrooms as huge opportunities to teach, comfort, and engage.
We treat washrooms as canvases for pixel-art, using playful characters to help children navigate their environment. In corridors, we use Lego-inspired wall paneling, which acts as a durable, cleanable surface that also keeps students interactive and curious. We also focus on custom wayfinding signage that is legible and friendly, ensuring that even a trip to the utility room feels intentional.
These touches are not just decorative; they turn a school into a place where kids feel truly seen and supported. Whether it is a height chart in a corridor or a custom-shaped pinboard, we believe that everything we add to a space should serve a purpose or spark a smile. If you are looking for school interior design that focuses on the human experience rather than just the square footage, let us connect.
