Authentic Home & Wada Wedding Photography
There is a warmth to weddings held in a family home or traditional wada that you just cannot replicate in a hotel. I love capturing these intimate, deeply personal stories.
A portrait of Jessie and Purujit in the balcony of their ancestral wada. The old wooden frames and the quiet light create a beautifully rustic and timeless feel for their wedding photos.
Purujit and Jessie's pre wedding shoot took place in Purujit's beautiful old wada in Pune. The home itself is full of character, and the balcony filled with plants was the perfect spot for a portrait.
A lovely portrait of the couple in the courtyard of the wada. The mix of traditional architecture and lush greenery makes for a unique and beautiful photo location.
A sweet, intimate portrait of Jessie and Purujit, framed by the leaves of a plant in their home. Shooting in a place that means so much to the couple adds an extra layer of meaning to the photos.
Another portrait from their pre wedding shoot at the wada. The dark wood of the staircase and the soft light create a warm and intimate atmosphere.
About Intimate Stories: Home & "Wada" Weddings
Shooting in an old wada is different from a standard venue. There is less space, sure, but there is so much more character in the wooden frames and the courtyard light. My job is to move around the family and the rituals without getting in the way, making sure the home itself feels like a part of your wedding story.
Home weddings, especially in traditional wadas, carry a feeling you just cannot get in a banquet hall. There is something special about getting ready in the room where you grew up, or having the pheras in a courtyard that has seen generations of your family.
When I shoot these events, I do not look for grand backdrops. I look for the way light falls through old wooden windows or the corner of the veranda where the elders are catching up. It is about documenting the house as a character in your story.
Because these spaces are often smaller, I keep my gear minimal. I do not walk in with big lights and a massive team that takes over your living room. I want to blend into the crowd so you forget I am there. This allows for authentic moments, like the chaos in the kitchen during a home meal or the genuine laughter during the haldi ceremony.
If you are planning an intimate ceremony, do not worry about the space. Whether it is a heritage wada in Pune or a cozy family home, we will find the right angles. I am interested in the truth of your day, not a manufactured version of it.
