Moments with tigers are meditative encounters. I track these apex predators in the wild, waiting for the light to reveal their quiet, majestic power.

"The Last Look." This film is a tribute to Romeo, the handsome grassland male of Dhikala, Corbett. I was lucky to capture this head-on shot as he walked towards us, a moment of pure majesty, before he tragically passed away.

This is Parwali’s cub, now a young adult, confidently patrolling the territory in Dhikala, Corbett. The forest always surprises you, and on this morning, the tiger walked right alongside our vehicle, a truly unforgettable experience.

A view of the tiger's powerful form from behind, highlighting the iconic stripes and the sensitive ears that miss nothing in the forest. Even a partial view conveys the immense presence of this animal.

A tiger in the grasslands of Corbett, transformed into a painterly masterpiece. I edited this photograph to evoke the feeling of a canvas, where the soft winter light and misty background blend into a dreamlike scene.

Another artistic interpretation of the Corbett tiger. The focus is on its expressive face, emerging from the soft, impressionistic grasses. This style aims to capture the soul of the animal, not just its physical form.

The tiger's tail, held high, signals its confidence as it moves through its domain. This painterly edit emphasizes the motion and the vibrant colors of the grasslands, creating a dynamic piece of fine art.

The original photograph before the painterly edits. This shows the raw moment in the Corbett grasslands, a beautiful scene in its own right, which served as the canvas for my artistic vision.

"Morning Jazz by the River." On a misty morning at the Bhadra Tiger Reserve, we glided down the river to find this magnificent tiger basking in a patch of sunlight. A rare and magical sighting in a truly breathtaking setting.

The tiger lets out a mighty yawn by the river Bhadra. We followed it for half an hour, witnessing its relaxed and majestic demeanor. It knew it was the king of this domain, and we were merely humble observers.

About The Royal Bengal Tiger

When I am tracking a tiger in the Corbett grasslands, the photography is not just about the shutter speed or the equipment. It is about stillness. I use specific slow-shutter techniques and careful post-processing to turn raw sightings into the painterly, fine art images you see here—bringing the quiet, misty soul of the forest directly to your wall.

For me, photographing the Royal Bengal Tiger is a form of active meditation. Whether we are gliding through the waters of the Bhadra Tiger Reserve at dawn or waiting in the tall grasses of Dhikala, the objective is to move beyond the physical form of the animal to capture its presence.

The Art of the Encounter

Many wildlife images focus solely on clarity, but my work leans into the atmosphere. I look for the morning mist, the soft, low-angle light, and the quiet moments—like a tiger letting out a yawn or walking confidently through its territory. By using slower shutter speeds and deliberate composition, I aim to create images that feel like paintings, preserving the emotional weight of these encounters.

Fine Art Prints for Your Space

These images of the tiger are available as signed, large-format archival prints. I select works that evoke a sense of calm and majesty, ensuring they serve as more than just a photograph on a wall. Each print is crafted to maintain the integrity of the original forest light, making it a statement piece for homes and offices that value nature and artistic expression.

Field Mentorship

If you want to move beyond automated settings and learn how to read the forest, I offer private wildlife photography mentorships in the Navi Mumbai wetlands and beyond. We focus on patience, understanding animal behavior, and sensing the light—skills that translate from shooting flamingos to capturing the elusive tiger.

Conservation Through the Lens

Every tiger image is a reminder of the fragility of our wild spaces. My work is not just about documenting the beauty of the Royal Bengal Tiger; it is about advocacy. By showing the tiger as a sentient, regal being, I hope to encourage the protection of our remaining forests in Corbett, Bhadra, and across India.

I am Sreekumar. To me, the forest is not just a location, it is a teacher. I capture the raw energy of the tiger, moving beyond the obvious to document the soul of these apex predators.
