Nature as Fine Art Photography
I do not just click buttons; my camera is a tool for meditation. I capture the delicate spirit of Navi Mumbai's wetlands and forests in images designed to feel like paintings.
"Flamingo Frenzy," my signature artistic piece, captures the chaotic energy of a courtship dance. This award-featured photograph is a perfect example of how I use the camera as a paintbrush to show movement and emotion.
"The Glass Lake of Navi Mumbai." This high-key, minimalist photograph of flamingos and stilts was featured in the Mangrove Photography Awards. It portrays the threatened T.S. Chanakya wetland as a fragile, ethereal glass canvas.
The pink trumpet blossoms of Navi Mumbai shrouded in morning fog. This image, captured with a classic film simulation, has a soft, dreamlike quality that celebrates the quiet, atmospheric beauty of nature.
"The Celestials of Earth." This black and white version of flamingos in the twilight was nominated at the BW Spider Awards. The conversion to monochrome emphasizes the reflections, the forms, and the dramatic sky, creating a timeless, otherworldly scene.
"The River Breath." The mist rises from the Bhadra river as a lone darter keeps watch. The soft, layered colors and minimalist composition create a serene, painterly landscape that invites contemplation and peace.
A dramatic sunset over the wetlands and mangroves of Navi Mumbai, shot on a phone. The powerful colors and cloud formations show that moments of profound beauty are everywhere, waiting to be captured.
This black and white image of flamingos, which received an honourable mention at the Black & White Spider Awards, focuses on the elegant, dance-like postures of the birds. The dark background makes their forms stand out like sculptures.
Black-winged Stilts and a Great Egret wade in the high-key white expanse of the Chanakya lake. This minimalist composition is about balance, space, and the quiet joy of finding a perfect, uncluttered moment in nature.
About Nature as Fine Art
When I am in the field, I often use slower shutter speeds to blur the movement of flamingos, turning a chaotic courtship dance into a singular, painterly expression. It is not about freezing a moment, but about capturing the energy that exists between the beats. My goal is to create high-quality, large-format wall art for your home that invites stillness rather than acting as mere decoration.
The Meditative Approach
Photography for me is a dialogue with the environment. Whether I am waiting for the mist to rise over the Bhadra river or tracking the movement of flamingos in the T.S. Chanakya wetland, the process remains the same. I seek to quiet the mind until the subject reveals its essence. This results in imagery that leans into minimalism and the use of negative space, allowing the viewer to find their own moment of calm.
Technical Artistry
I work primarily with Fujifilm mirrorless systems, utilizing telephoto lenses up to 600mm to maintain distance, ensuring that nature remains undisturbed. By employing techniques like long exposure and intentional camera movement, I transform standard wildlife shots into fine art prints. These are not merely records of a species, but artistic interpretations of motion, light, and atmosphere.
Conservation Through Art
My prints serve a dual purpose. They beautify your office or home with the raw, ethereal beauty of our remaining mangroves and wetlands, while simultaneously serving as a record of habitats that are under constant pressure. When you purchase a piece of my fine art, you are supporting the conservation of these vital ecosystems. Each archival pigment print comes hand-signed, with a certificate of authenticity and a narrative card detailing the story behind the capture.
Commissioning Work
I offer custom large-format printing services, including canvas wraps and wood-framed archival prints up to 10 feet. If you are looking for specific habitat documentation for editorial or commercial use, I also undertake full-day site photography, utilizing silent, camouflage methods to capture undisturbed wildlife behavior.

I am Sreekumar. My work is a meditation, a way to breathe with the river and give a voice to the wetlands. I invite you to see nature through a lens that values the spirit over the spectacle.
