About this collection
In my studio, we treat draping like architecture. Students learn to handle everything from stiff 9-yard silks to modern flowy fabrics, ensuring the drape is secure enough for long weddings but comfortable enough to move in. This gallery displays the final results of that rigorous training: confident students executing professional-grade styles, from traditional South Indian looks to contemporary drapes, fully prepared for client work.
Draping is often misunderstood as just wrapping fabric, but it is actually a precise skill that requires understanding body proportions and fabric weight. My classes are designed to bridge the gap between theory and actual client needs. We start with basics like fabric preparation and move to advanced bridal styling.
My students learn to manage heavy Kanjivaram silk, pin dupattas without pulling hair, and place waist belts symmetrically so they stay in place. We practice on real models, not mannequins, because body type significantly changes how a drape sits.
Why we do portfolio shoots:
- Career Readiness: You cannot become a professional stylist without a portfolio. These videos show my students in action, documenting their ability to style a look from start to finish.
- Real-World Practice: By the time a student finishes the course, they aren't just reading manuals. They have a gallery of work that proves their competence to future clients.
- Confidence Building: The transition from learning in a classroom to styling for a camera is crucial. It teaches students how to guide models and handle last-minute adjustments, which is exactly what happens on a wedding day.
Whether you want to work in a salon or open your own studio, you need this foundation. I ensure every student who leaves my studio is ready to work on day one.
