More Than Just Maths: Holistic Development for Kids
Math is a great starting point, but every child has unique talents waiting to be explored. From sharpening their strategy with chess to refining their focus with art and calligraphy, we help Basavanagudi's makkalu grow in ways that go beyond the textbook.
My center, Hidden Talents, is a children's paradise for learning. Beyond Vedic Maths, I also offer classes in art, languages, chess, Rubik's Cube, and even career counseling to help discover your child's inborn talents.
This graphic shows the range of activities we offer at Hidden Talents. From Art and Career Consulting to Bharatanatyam and Handwriting, we provide a platform for every child to explore their potential.
About this collection
I often see parents who come for Abacus but stay for the rest. When a child who is struggling with handwriting spends time on calligraphy, or when a hyperactive kid calms their mind with a puzzle, the improvement in their general focus is immediate. It is not just about keeping them busy; it is about finding the right outlet for their energy.
Beyond the Abacus
While my center in Basavanagudi is known for Vedic Maths and Abacus, I quickly realized that makkalu (children) have so much more to offer. My 'Hidden Talents' program was born out of a desire to give them a space where they can explore interests that traditional schooling often pushes aside.
The Activities We Offer
- Chess & Rubik's Cube: These are not just games. They are tools for logical reasoning and spatial awareness. I love watching a shy student figure out a complex move and gain the confidence to lead.
- Art & Calligraphy: Sometimes, a child needs to step away from numbers and express themselves visually. Our drawing and handwriting classes help build fine motor skills and patience, which helps them immensely when they return to their studies.
- Language & Communication: We work on phonics and grammar in Kannada, English, and Hindi. This is about helping them find their voice.
Why the Variety Matters
It is all about the brain. When we cycle through different types of tasks—switching from a logic puzzle to a creative art exercise—the child stays engaged and keeps their interest levels high. We avoid the burnout that happens with repetitive study. Whether you are looking for after-school support or a weekend activity that actually builds skills, my team and I are here to help your child find what they are naturally good at. Tumba chennagide (It is very good) to see them discover a passion they never knew they had.
Shobha
I am Shobha, and running the SIP Abacus center in Basavanagudi has been my passion for over a decade. I have seen firsthand how a child who feels stuck in school finds their spark when they try something new, like solving a Rubik’s cube or learning calligraphy.
