A Look Inside Our Abacus and Math Classes

At our Basavanagudi center, math is not a chore, it is a skill we build together. See how our students combine mental arithmetic, cognitive focus, and community celebrations to learn faster and feel confident.

This is what a happy and focused learner looks like. In my class, children learn to use the abacus not as a tool, but as a way to visualize numbers, making complex calculations feel like a simple, engaging puzzle.

This image explains how visualizing the abacus beads helps children perform complex mental calculations. It's a core technique we teach for mastering addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with speed and accuracy.

Learning and celebration go hand in hand. Here are my students during a Navratri celebration in the classroom, all dressed in yellow for Day 1, bringing festive joy to our learning space.

A glimpse of a Father's Day activity in our class. Students are seen here coloring and preparing special cards for their dads, combining creativity with their regular lessons.

About this collection

Every session starts with Brain Gym exercises, specifically designed to help your child settle down and focus before we open the workbooks. It is a small routine, but it makes a significant difference in how quickly they grasp complex calculations during the hour.

Our approach to teaching is rooted in the belief that every child has hidden potential. In the Basavanagudi classroom, we move away from traditional rote learning and use the Sutra method to teach mental arithmetic. This helps children visualize numbers, effectively turning tedious math problems into puzzles they enjoy solving.

We limit our batches to 10 to 15 students for offline sessions and even smaller groups for online classes. This ensures that every child gets the attention they need to correct their technique. The curriculum covers a wide range of cognitive skill development, including handwriting drills and memory exercises, which helps them in all school subjects, not just mathematics.

Beyond the numbers, we place a heavy emphasis on building a supportive community. You will see from our gallery that we celebrate festivals and special milestones with the same energy we put into our drills. We have found that when children feel comfortable and happy in their environment, they are much more willing to participate, take risks, and eventually gain the confidence to compete at state-level Olympiads. Whether your child is 6 or 12, our goal is to eliminate the fear of math and replace it with a genuine sense of achievement.
