Traditional & Bridal Photography in Kolkata
From the deep red of a bridal Banarasi to the quiet elegance of a morning saree, I focus on the cultural details that tell your unique story.
A powerful bridal close-up where the model's hand, decorated with red 'alta', partially covers her face. This creative composition draws attention to her intense eyes and the traditional elements of her look.
A serene bridal portrait using shadow and light to highlight the traditional 'chandan' designs on the bride's face. The soft focus and warm tones create a dreamy, intimate mood perfect for a bridal story.
A collage showcasing different moods of a bride in a rich, red lehenga. I used dramatic lighting and shadows to create a cinematic feel, highlighting the intricate embroidery and the actress's expressive poses.
A full-length bridal portrait featuring a stunning off-white and red saree. The lush green background makes the traditional attire pop, and the use of natural light adds a soft, radiant glow to the scene.
A model styled in a unique dhoti-style saree drape for a brand campaign. This shot combines traditional fabric with a modern silhouette, set against architectural pillars and scattered marigold flowers.
A close-up shot for the brand Elezara, where the rich fabric of the Banarasi saree is the focus. The model's pose draws the viewer's eye to the intricate silver and gold floral patterns of the weave.
A diptych of actors Ankush Hazra and Oindrila Sen in traditional Bengali wedding attire. These shots capture both individual portraits and their chemistry as a couple for a commercial shoot.
A creative top-down angle of a couple on a staircase, dressed in wedding attire. This perspective offers a unique and artistic view of their outfits and the intimate moment between them.
A classic back-pose portrait in a traditional white and red Bengali saree. The play of light and shadow across the model's back and long, flowing hair creates a timeless and artistic image.
A creative shot using a mirror to frame the model's smiling face. Dressed in a beautiful green and gold saree, this image feels personal and joyful, capturing a moment of self-adornment.
About Traditional & Bridal Elegance
Traditional attire is about more than just the fabric. It is about how the light hits the gold jewelry, the drape of the saree, and the quiet grace in your posture. During a shoot, I focus on these micro-details—adjusting angles to highlight the embroidery of your lehenga or the texture of your Banarasi weave—to ensure the final image feels authentic, not just posed.
My approach to bridal and traditional photography is rooted in storytelling. Whether we are shooting a quiet, meditative bridal portrait or an editorial fashion campaign, I pull inspiration from the cinema and poetry I grew up with. You will see this in the 'Chokher Bali' inspired soft lighting or the dramatic, high-contrast shadows I often use to bring out the depth in traditional wear.
The Process
Before the camera comes out, we discuss the visual narrative. Are we going for a regal, vintage vibe, or something modern and sharp? We coordinate with stylists and makeup artists to ensure the hair, jewelry, and outfit complement the setting. For locations, I prefer spaces that add context, whether it is the architecture of an old Kolkata building or a clean, controlled studio environment where we can manipulate light to focus entirely on your expressions.
Technical Expertise
I use high-resolution Nikon Z series equipment to capture the minute details of fabric texture and makeup artistry. My post-production work is careful; I prioritize natural skin texture, color grading that respects the vibrancy of ethnic colors, and fabric correction. The goal is a final image that looks like it belongs in a magazine, ready for print or digital display.
Your Vision
This work is collaborative. If you have a specific bridal look in mind or need a lookbook for a clothing brand, we will build a shot list that covers everything from full-length silhouettes to intimate close-ups. My focus is always on capturing that fleeting moment where tradition meets raw emotion.
