I treat a portrait like a scene from a film. Whether it is a rugged, noir-inspired look with heavy shadows or a clean, high-key studio shot, the goal is always to reveal something beyond the surface. My sessions are collaborative, meaning we define the mood before we pick up the camera.
The Session Experience
- Conceptualization: We start by talking about the 'why'. Are we going for a gritty, unbuttoned, moody vibe or something sharp, sophisticated, and tailored for a magazine cover?
- Technique: I use a Nikon Z series setup to ensure billboard-quality resolution. I frequently employ colored gels, motion blur, and dramatic Rembrandt lighting to add texture and depth to the frame.
- Tethering: For commercial shoots, I use laptop tethering where possible. This allows us to see the hero shots in real-time, ensuring we nail the lighting and composition before the session ends.

Photography is not just about the gear; it is about direction. I spend a significant portion of our 4-hour session working on your expressions and acting for the camera. My job is to make you comfortable enough to drop the guard, which is essential for capturing that 'soulful' element I strive for in every project.
