Planning an outdoor shoot in Mumbai is all about timing and a little bit of luck with the weather! I always track the sun for that perfect golden hour glow, but if we are booking during the monsoon, I keep a flexible calendar so we can reschedule if the skies open up. I love picking parks or quiet lakeside spots where your little one has the space to run, explore, and just be their happy, messy self.
There is something about open spaces that helps kids open up. In the studio, everything is posed and perfect, but outdoors, it is raw. Whether it is a quiet moment by the water or a fun themed setup with props like fishing rods and vintage suitcases, outdoor photography allows me to capture the real you.
I bring props to these sessions not to clutter the space, but to give your child something to interact with. It turns a photography session into a playdate, which is exactly how we get those genuine, toothy smiles.
A Few Tips for Our Outdoor Session
- Clothing: Dress comfortably. Loose cotton clothes work best for the kids, and I always suggest coordinated, earth-tone outfits for the family. It keeps the focus on your interaction, not the clothes.
- Timing: Golden hour is non-negotiable for that soft, warm look. We will plan our start time strictly around the sunset.
- Family Inclusion: Please bring the whole gang! Some of my favorite photos are the candid, unscripted hugs between parents and siblings while the child is busy playing.
