Teaching since 1988 has taught me more than I could ever teach my students. Here is a look at the lives, the laughter, and the beautiful connections made in my studio over the years.

People often ask me what and how I teach. My answer is simple: I believe everyone is creative, and my role is to provide a supportive environment for them to discover that. I don't just teach art; I help bring out the unique artist in each person.

My journey as a teacher is filled with special students like Niral, who started with me at age 8, and Sonam, who reconnected after two decades. Now, I even teach Niral's son! These relationships that span generations are my greatest treasure.

Here I am in my garden, taking a moment for myself with my sketchbook. Art is not just my profession; it's my own therapy and a way of life. Practicing regularly takes me to a meditative state and keeps my own creative spirit alive.

Being creative is a way of life. I started this journey in 1988, and my own art studio is where I get to see imagination take flight every single day. It is a privilege to turn my hobby into my profession.

I spent three wonderful days on an art retreat in Landour, painting the sunrise and teaching the amazing local children. Staying there helps sponsor their education. I came home with my heart full of their pure love and the beauty of the mountains.

This video shows my process for creating a watercolor portrait, which is my favorite subject to paint. I love building up the layers of color to bring a face to life. It's a process that requires patience and observation.

Are you afraid of trying art? Please don't be. The most important thing is to express yourself and enjoy the process. Every mark you make is a part of your unique journey. Just pick up the brush and begin.

Learning art has so many benefits beyond just making a pretty picture. It builds fine motor skills, boosts self-esteem, and creates a wonderful sense of community. It is a powerful tool for personal growth at any age.

On World Mental Health Day, our in-house psychologist, Nisargi Shah, shared a gentle reminder to take care of our emotional health. We believe in the strong connection between art, expression, and mental well-being.

About My Journey & Student Stories

I don’t believe in teaching perfect lines because those don't exist. When you walk into my Vile Parle studio, we start with a conversation, not a lesson. Whether you are nervous about picking up a brush for the first time or looking for a space to express what words cannot, we focus entirely on the process. My role is simply to create a safe, supportive space where you feel comfortable making a mess and finding your own voice.

Art has never been just a job for me. It is a way of life that began in 1988, and every student who has walked through my door has added a new layer of meaning to my own path.

My studio is built on the belief that everyone is creative, regardless of age or experience. I have taught students like Niral, who started with me as a child and now brings her own son, Arham, to learn. Then there is Sonam, who returned to my studio after two decades, proving that the love for art never really leaves you. These relationships are my true rewards—meri tapassya ka phal (the fruit of my penance).

Why Art Matters

I often work with students on their own healing journeys. I have seen art provide a voice to those who struggle to communicate, like Jay, a student who couldn't walk or talk but found incredible expression through color. For others, it is simply a way to manage the stress of daily life. When you join a session, you are not just learning technique; you are participating in a process that builds fine motor skills, fosters emotional well-being, and creates a sense of community.

What You Can Expect

  • No Rules: We use everything from coffee and watercolors to acrylics and textures. You pick what feels right.
  • Inclusive Environment: My classes are open to seniors, adults, children, and those with special needs. I adapt tools like rollers and sponges to ensure everyone can participate comfortably.
  • Supportive Guidance: Whether you are prepping a portfolio for an exam or just want a weekend hobby, I am there to guide you without ever judging your work.

Come as you are. Whether you want to try portrait painting or just need a quiet space to reflect, my studio is open to you.
