Nurturing Young Artists in Juhu
My studio is a space for kids to put down their textbooks, pick up a brush, and just breathe. Whether it is their first sketch or they have been painting for years, we focus on the joy of creating, not the pressure of perfection.
The happiness on a child's face when they create something is priceless. In my classes, the motto is to enjoy the process and develop art as a hobby, without any pressure. We explore many different mediums to keep their curiosity alive.
Listen to my wonderful teenage students share how art class is their "me time." For them, it's a way to de-stress from studies, calm their minds, and just enjoy the process of creating. I am so proud to see them find this balance.
When a child is not in the mood to draw, you find a new way to inspire them. Little Prabhir wasn't interested until we started making paper monsters with scissors, inspired by Henri Matisse. He created his own angry monster who loves carrots!
Art is not just about learning how to draw or paint; it is about the freedom of expression. This is the core belief in my children's art classes. I love seeing the world through their wonderfully imaginative and unfiltered drawings.
Children are my comfort zone. Whether we are painting by the river, playing in the studio, or working with children with special needs, their energy and innocence teach me so much. I feel blessed to be a part of their journey.
I often get asked why art is so important for children. It helps develop focus, improves hand-eye coordination, and gives them a powerful way to express their ideas and emotions. Most importantly, it builds their confidence and makes them feel good about themselves.
About Nurturing Young Artists
Here, art is not graded and there are no rigid rules to follow. If a child wants to paint a monster that loves carrots instead of a traditional landscape, that is exactly what we do. We prioritize the freedom to express over the need for neatness, so your child feels relaxed enough to actually find their own creative voice.
When students walk into my studio, the first thing they leave at the door is the pressure of the outside world. My classes in Vile Parle West are designed to be a safe space where children and teenagers can disconnect from school stress. I have seen 10th-grade students come in exhausted from studies, only to leave refreshed because they finally had some 'me time' with colors.
We do not chase perfection here. Instead, we chase curiosity. Whether we are trying coffee painting, sketching, or using pastels, the goal is always to enjoy the stroke. I recently had a student who was not interested in drawing until we tried a paper-cutting lesson inspired by Henri Matisse. He ended up creating an 'angry monster' that loves carrots. That moment of joy—when he realized his idea was 'cool'—is exactly why I do this.
Why parents choose this space:
- Focus & Calm: Art helps improve concentration and hand-eye coordination naturally.
- Emotional Outlet: It provides a safe channel to express feelings when words fall short.
- No Competitive Pressure: There are no comparisons or rigid curriculum goals. Every child progresses at their own pace.
- Adaptive Guidance: I work with each child individually, adapting my teaching style to match their mood and energy.
My role as a teacher is to be a guide, a guru who provides the tools and lets the child lead the way. If you are looking for an environment where your child can grow confident, expressive, and happy, my doors are open.
