Custom Portrait and Figure Mehendi
I specialize in turning your special moments, favorite figures, and loved ones into intricate henna art. Whether it is a deity, a historical icon, or your own love story, I bring it to life on your palms.
A custom couple portrait for an engagement, featuring the name 'Chaitanya'. I work closely with clients to capture their likeness and traditional attire, making their mehendi truly personal.
This video shows the step-by-step creation of a traditional couple portrait. You can see how the figures are outlined and then filled with intricate details to bring them to life.
A video showcasing the finished portrait of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. I often use a reference image to ensure every detail, from the turban to the expression, is captured accurately.
Here you can see my finished henna portrait of Shivaji Maharaj next to the reference sketch. This shows how I translate a detailed drawing into a beautiful mehendi design.
A devotional portrait of Shri Swami Samarth for a client. The design includes his portrait on one palm and a 'palki' (palanquin) on the other, with 'Swami' written on the fingers.
A close-up video of me applying the finishing touches to a Swami Samarth portrait. The fine lines and shading are key to creating a realistic and respectful depiction.
This video shows my process of creating a portrait of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on paper. I often practice my figures on paper to perfect the design before applying it with henna.
About this collection
I don't believe in stencils or ready-made designs for portraits. Every face, figure, and scene is hand-drawn directly on the skin using an ultra-fine tip cone. Because this work involves advanced layering and shading to capture realistic expressions, please account for 2 to 3 hours of dedicated time during your booking.
Portrait mehendi is where I really get to show my 'mehanati' (hardworking) side. It requires a lot of patience, both from me and from you as the client. When I create a portrait of a deity like Swami Samarth or a historic figure like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, I look at reference sketches first to ensure I get the shading and facial features exactly right before I start on the hand.
How I Approach Your Custom Design
For weddings and engagements, we often go for couple portraits or scenes that tell your personal love story. If you have a specific reference image, share it with me early on. I use specialized techniques for fine-line work to ensure the portraits don't look muddy or crowded as the henna stains.
- Deity & Guru Portraits: I focus on the eyes and expression. Whether it is Radha-Krishna or a personal Guru, the shading is what gives it that life-like depth.
- Couple Portraits: Perfect for engagements or pre-wedding shoots. We can include initials or important dates within the frame.
- Historical Figures: I treat these with immense respect. The detailing in the turban, the jewelry, and the facial structure is where I spend the most time.
My goal is to give you a design that is 'swatahcha' (your own). Like I tell my students, even if the canvas is small, the art you create should be a true reflection of your identity. If you are planning a bridal or special event, reach out early so we can discuss the reference images and finalize the composition together.
