Hand-Drawn Pencil Portraits for Your Loved Ones
We capture your favorite moments in graphite and charcoal. From realistic A4 sketches to detailed couple portraits, bring us your photo and watch it come to life.
This video shows the entire process of creating a surprise birthday portrait. We love being a part of these special moments and delivering a personalized gift that brings so much joy.
This detailed sketch of a mother and son was a special commission. Notice the fine shading and line work that our artist uses to create a realistic and emotional portrait from a photograph.
Even during a busy day at the studio, our artists are always sketching. Here is a work-in-progress portrait of T. Raja Singh, showcasing the skill and dedication that goes into every custom drawing.
About Hand-Drawn Pencil Portraits
When you get a portrait from us, it isn't just a sketch on loose paper. Every piece is finished with a clear fixative spray to stop smudging, and we provide it in a ready-to-hang synthetic fiber frame with a glass front, so you can display it on your wall immediately.
At Shades of Inks, our approach to pencil sketching is about capturing the emotion behind a photo, not just copying it. Our lead artist, Anurag, uses a graphite and charcoal combination to get those deep blacks and smooth skin tones that bring a face to life.
How We Create Your Portrait
- Consultation: First, we chat about your reference photo. Good lighting makes a huge difference, so we help you pick the best one before we start.
- The Drawing: We use professional-grade pencils ranging from HB to 8B on heavy-duty, acid-free cartridge paper. This creates that high-contrast, realistic texture.
- The Finishing: After the sketch is done, we apply multiple coats of fixative spray. This isn't just for shine; it prevents the graphite from smudging over time, ensuring your portrait stays crisp.
- Framing: We mount every portrait in a standard black or brown synthetic wood frame with a glass front. It comes with a back hook, so you can take it straight from our studio to your wall.
Size & Timeline
Whether you need a solo A4 portrait or a larger A3 couple sketch, we have you covered. Because this is detailed work done by hand, we typically need 2 to 3 days to complete a piece. If you have a specific date in mind, like an anniversary or a birthday, tell us early so we can plan the schedule. We don't use printouts; every line you see is drawn right here in our Narpoli studio.
