Custom Pencil & Graphite Portraits
Graphite and ink aren't just tools to me; they are how I preserve a moment's quiet truth on paper. I draw to capture not just a likeness, but the specific spark that makes you, you.
A happy client holding his freshly sketched portrait at the office. I enjoy doing these quick, live sketches to capture people in their natural environment.
The finished quick portrait, sketched on colored paper to add warmth. Using graphite with white highlights helps to create depth and bring the subject's thoughtful expression to life.
A closer look at the pencil portrait, showing the detailed shading on the face and hair. Even in a quick sketch, I focus on capturing the light and structure of the features.
A short video showing the completed pencil portrait from different angles, highlighting the texture of the paper and the graphite work.
A detail shot focusing on the challenging angles of the glasses and the texture of the beard in this pencil sketch.
This conceptual piece, titled 'Strings', uses pencil and watercolor to explore themes of connection and control. The realistic hands rendered in graphite contrast with the symbolic red thread.
A work in progress shot of the 'Strings' artwork, showing my hand adding the final pencil details to the hands, demonstrating the blend of wet and dry media.
A tiny, delicate pencil drawing in a miniature sketchbook. This piece captures a tender moment between a little girl and her pet rabbit, showcasing my ability to work on a very small scale.
Another angle of the miniature rabbit sketch, showing the fine pencil work required to create detail in such a small space.

About Classic Pencil & Graphite Portraits
When I work on a graphite portrait, I focus on the small things—how your glasses sit or the natural texture of your hair—because that is where the real story lives. Before I start the final shading, I send you a mid-stage layout photo for your feedback, so we ensure the composition feels exactly right before I apply the archival fixative spray.
There is a specific kind of stillness that comes with hand-drawn art. Whether I am working on a realistic graphite portrait or an intricate ink stippling piece, my goal is to strip away the noise of the day and capture the character of the subject.
My Process
I work on high-quality 180 GSM acid-free paper, which means these portraits are built to last and won't yellow over time. The process usually takes about 4 to 7 days. I start with a light sketch to map out the proportions, then move into the shading phase. If you choose an ink piece, I use cross-hatching and stippling to build contrast, layer by layer. For graphite work, I focus on the interplay of light and shadow, especially around the eyes and expressions, which define the subject's mood.
Why Choose Pencil or Ink
People often ask me why they should pick a hand-drawn piece over a photograph. A photograph captures a second; a drawing captures the time taken to observe it. I treat these commissions as legacy pieces, whether it is a portrait for a loved one or a small, detailed sketch for your desk. I apply a fixative spray to every finished piece to prevent smudging, ensuring that the work arrives in your hands as crisp and clear as it was when I finished the final line.
If you are in Bengaluru or anywhere else in India, I can pack and ship these safely to your doorstep. I am always happy to help with framing suggestions, too, so your artwork is ready to hang the moment it arrives.
