Happy Tummies: Home-Style Meals & Treat Training
We don't just feed dogs. We use mealtime as a chance to teach patience, manners, and socialization in a real home setting.
Mealtime for the Indie pack. They all eat together from their own bowls. No food aggression, just good manners.
Treat time in the yard. A Husky patiently waits for his turn. This is how we teach them patience.
I am surrounded by hopeful faces during treat time. They all know they have to be calm to get a reward.
When food is delayed by even one minute, the Huskies will let you know. They are very vocal about their meal schedule.
My lunch time is also their inspection time. They are always curious about what I am eating, but they know they have to wait for their own food.
They think if they stare hard enough, I will share my food. It's a battle of wills, but I have to be strong.
Full-on inspection of my breakfast. They have already eaten their chicken, but they still want a bite of my food. Such bhukkads.
You can never eat alone in this house. I always have a crowd of hopeful supervisors checking my every bite.
How will you eat your breakfast with this audience? This is my daily challenge. Their puppy eyes are very powerful.
This lazy Golden Retriever is a prince. Sometimes he wants to be hand-fed. I treat every bachha as my own, so I don't mind the extra service.
About Happy Tummies: Meal & Treat Time
Every dog here knows that the magic word is 'sit'. Before I put any bowl down, they have to wait patiently. This isn't just about feeding time, it stops food aggression before it starts. Whether it is a picky Golden Retriever or an enthusiastic Indie, they all learn that calm behavior is the only way to get a meal.
Mealtime at Second Home is where we build the most focus. We avoid factory-produced kibble. Instead, I prepare home-style meals with boiled boneless chicken, rice, vegetables, and warm broth. It is the same diet I would feed my own dogs, focusing on nutrition that keeps them healthy and energetic throughout the day.
We manage mealtime carefully at both our HSR Layout and Parappana Agrahara locations. Because we operate a 100% cage-free environment, the dogs eat together in a shared space. We do not tolerate 'halla gulla' (chaos). If a dog tries to jump or rush, we pause. This teaches them to respect boundaries and control their impulses, which is crucial for group socialization.
Treat time is equally important. I use rewards to reinforce basic manners like 'sit' and 'wait'. If a dog jumps on me, they don't get the treat. By the end of their stay, even the most impatient pups usually learn to sit politely. If your dog has specific dietary restrictions, or if they are a 'bhukkad' (glutton) who needs extra supervision, just let me know. We make sure every bachha gets their fill without any fights.
