Behind the Scenes: My Process for Homemade Preserves
I believe you should know exactly what goes into your jars. Here is a look at my process, from washing fresh strawberries to the final slow-cooked jam, all made in my own kitchen.
The secret to the best jam is patience and quality ingredients. This video shows my process for making chemical-free strawberry jam, from washing and chopping fresh strawberries to the final product.
About Behind the Scenes: My Process
You won't find any chemical preservatives or store-bought thickeners in my kitchen. When I make jam, it is just fresh fruit, sugar, and patience, cooked down in small batches. This is why the flavor and texture change slightly with every season, because I am using real, farm-sourced produce rather than mass-manufactured concentrates.
Why I don't take shortcuts
I started making my own jams and treats because I wanted to know exactly what was going into them. When you see those strawberries being washed and chopped, that is me, not a machine. Baking and preserving are not just tasks to be finished; they are rituals.
The 'Real Food' Promise
- No Preservatives: My jams stay shelf-stable through proper cooking and sterilizing glass jars, not through chemicals.
- Small Batches: I cook in limited quantities. This ensures that the fruit stays intact and the natural pectin does the work of thickening, which is why you get that authentic, homemade taste.
- Seasonal Variability: Because I source fresh, local ingredients, my jam might look or taste slightly different in winter compared to summer. That is not a flaw, that is the reality of using natural food.
A Note on Ingredients
I know people are often skeptical about 'homemade' tags. When you visit my bakery in Narayanapura, you are welcome to ask about the fruit sources. I use the same quality ingredients for my hampers, cakes, and jars that I feed my own family. If you have any specific allergies or dietary questions about the batches I am currently cooking, please send me a message before you order. I would rather you ask than go home with something that does not fit your needs.
