Landscape Design & Technical Planning
Conceptual Design & Master Planning
- Site Reconnaissance: Detailed mapping of existing trees, sun path analysis, and slope study for contour management.
- Master Plan: 2D colored conceptual layout defining hardscapes like paths and decks versus softscapes like mounds and planting zones.
- Design Narrative: Creation of a bespoke concept note with sketches and mood boards.
Technical Drawings (GFC)
- Civil Details: Working drawings for pathways, retaining walls using local stone, water bodies, and decks. Includes specific stone laying patterns.
- Planting Plan: Scientific selection of native trees, shrubs, and groundcovers like Vetiver grass suited to the specific micro climate.
- Water Management: Designs for rainwater harvesting features including bioswales, rain gardens, or contour trenches.
Services & Documentation
- MEP Layouts: Schematic layouts for electrical lighting points and drip or sprinkler irrigation systems.
- Bill of Quantities: Itemized list of materials and quantities required for tendering to contractors.
- Site Visits: Periodic visits by the architect to check design adherence during execution.
End-to-End Landscape Execution
Civil & Hardscaping
- Earthwork: Creating landforms and contour trenches for water retention using specialized soil stabilization techniques.
- Stone Work: Installation of natural stone pathways (Cobblestone or Granite) and retaining walls by skilled masons.
- Water Features: Construction of Kund style water bodies or bio ponds with waterproofing and stone coping.
- Structures: Fabrication of metal pergolas, trellis tubes, or stone benches.
Softscaping & Planting
- Soil Prep: Amending native red soil with organic manure and fertilizers.
- Native Trees: Supply and planting of indigenous tree saplings (6 to 10ft height) selected for root resilience.
- Ground Cover: High density planting of Vetiver grasses for soil holding, aromatic herbs, and shrubs.
Utilities & Finishing
- Irrigation System: Installation of automated or semi automated drip irrigation networks.
- Drainage: Sub surface drainage cells and piping to manage monsoon water flow.
- Lighting: Installation of outdoor mood lighting including bollards and spike lights.
Heritage Site Restoration Package
Conservation Works
- Tree Surgery: Expert pruning, cleaning, and health assessment of century old Banyan or Mango trees.
- Root Protection: Manual excavation around tree bases to install decks or seating without damaging existing root systems.
Period Restoration
- Hardscape Restoration: Meticulous relaying of cobblestone or stone driveways to match original heritage aesthetics.
- Material Sourcing: Procurement of reclaimed or antique finish materials like stone and wood to blend with old architecture.
Ecological Revival
- Underplanting: Introduction of shade tolerant native species under existing tree canopies.
- Water Structures: Reviving or creating traditional water harvesting structures like wells or tanks compatible with the site.
About Landscape Architecture
Our Philosophy: The Resilient Garden
We believe a landscape should feel alive and connected to its place. Inspired by India's Devrai (sacred forests), we follow the idea of taking only what nature gives freely. For us, landscape architecture is about creating spaces that respect the ecosystem, look good, and have a strong sense of soul.
How We Work with Nature
Our design process goes beyond just visuals - it’s about working with what’s already there.
- We design with the land, not against it. Whether it means keeping ancient trees or using the natural slope to avoid unnecessary digging, we try not to force things.
- Local culture matters. We bring in touches like Gramam Pranganam (village courtyard), making each space feel rooted and real.
- Water is always central. We use ideas like kunds (rainwater ponds) and rain gardens to keep the site water-positive.
- Creating habitats is key. By planting native species, we help bring back birds, insects, and even aquatic life.
Spaces That Bring People Together
We’ve done everything from themed gardens (like Devrai - A Sacred Forest for a French festival) to Smruti (WWI memorial trenches). Our projects in Mumbai and Andhra Pradesh show how community courtyard landscaping can hold festivals, games, and everyday gatherings. For private estates, we love making personal spaces - a mango grove dining deck, a lakeside lawn, or a restored heritage driveway.
Our Materials & Plant Choices
We stick to what’s local - cobblestone, granite, mud bricks straight from the site. Native plant landscaping is our go-to for resilience and supporting ecology, from vetiver grass for soil to scented herbs for experience.
Some sites are tough - old trees, rocky ground, water issues - but we stay flexible and patient, always trying to let the land guide us.

My Story
We’re SAPA. You know, for us, design’s always been about more than just buildings. It’s that Devrai vibe—sacred forests, nature as family, not just resource. We took that spirit right to France, built a garden that kinda whispers to you, not shouts. Whether it’s using mud from the site for a new office or rescuing old timber for a door, we love keeping the old soul alive. Watching people use these spaces, that’s the real reward.
My Work
What We Do - We handle master planning, architecture, landscape, interiors, and heritage building restoration.
Rooted in Resilience - Our designs are all about sustainability and zero footprint architecture, inspired by Devrai inspired landscape.
Old Meets New - We blend traditional techniques with today’s needs—think mud brick construction, local materials, and a lot of heart.
Restoring With Care - When we restore, we keep the soul intact. Salvaged wood, skilled hands, every old story matters.
Spaces for Community - From community courtyard design to open grounds, our focus is always bringing people together.
