About Unicorn & Fairy Tale Cakes
If you are looking for those heavy, sugary fondant finish cakes, I am likely not the right baker for you. I stick entirely to buttercream and ganache for these designs. This means every unicorn horn, flower, or enchanted forest detail you see here is piped or crafted from cream, which keeps the cake soft and light rather than dense with sugar paste.
Creating a fairy tale or unicorn-themed cake without fondant requires a lot of patience with piping bags. Whether it is a two-tier fairy house with hand-piped mushrooms or a classic unicorn sheet cake with a vibrant rainbow border, my priority is keeping the cake easy to cut and delicious to eat.
How we approach these themes
- The Unicorn Look: I use a mix of vibrant buttercream swirls for the mane, complemented by gold acrylic or cardstock toppers for the horn. This creates that magical pop without needing heavy fondant sheets.

Ordering and Transport
These cakes are delicate, especially the ones with tall toppers or piping. I bake everything fresh in my Whitefield kitchen. Since I do not use plastic structural fondant, the cakes are quite soft. I recommend choosing self-pickup so you can keep the box flat in your car. If you need a delivery, I can help you book a reliable cab, but please note that these tall designs need a steady hand during transit.
