Whimsical & Animal Kingdom Cakes
From magical unicorns to wild safari adventures, I love bringing your wildest imagination to life with rich Italian Meringue Buttercream. Let’s create a centerpiece that tastes just as good as it looks.
Be a unicorn in a field of horses! This magical unicorn cake features a hand-sculpted bas-relief unicorn with a pastel rainbow mane, surrounded by isomalt lollipops and chocolate spheres.
Welcome to the jungle! This safari-themed cake is covered in handmade fondant animals like a lion, monkey, giraffe, and tiger. I also created custom monstera leaves to complete the wild look.
This two-tiered Bambi themed cake was created for a woodland-themed first birthday. The bottom tier has a realistic tree bark texture, and the cake is decorated with a hand-sculpted fondant deer, a bunny, and sugar cookies.
A bee-utiful cake for a first birthday! This sweet design features a bright yellow buttercream finish, fondant daisies, and adorable little bees, including a custom Cocomelon-style bee topper.
Some bunny is turning one! This adorable bunny cake features a hand-molded fondant bunny face with a crown of delicate sugar flowers. It's a sweet and gentle theme for a little one's celebration.
This cute panda cake is nestled in a forest of chocolate shavings and wafer stick bamboo. The hand-cut fondant panda and fresh flowers make it a perfect blend of chocolatey and cute.
This flamingo-themed dessert spread was a tropical dream. The centerpiece cake is decorated with a fondant flamingo and chocolate fan sails, surrounded by matching cupcakes and cake pops.
A simple and sweet cake featuring a little girl holding a bouquet of balloons. The figure is created with layered fondant for a 2D effect, and the balloons are made from chocolate spheres.
Another take on the magical unicorn theme, this one for a first birthday. It features a cute, hand-sculpted fondant unicorn, a pink drip, and clear isomalt lollipops for a touch of sparkle.
This butterfly-themed cake is all about soft textures and delicate details. I used edible wafer paper butterflies and tiny pearl sprinkles to create a sense of movement and magic.
About Whimsical & Animal Kingdom Cakes
I don't use full fondant coverage on my animal cakes because I believe the cake should actually taste good. I use a silky Italian Meringue Buttercream base and add hand-sculpted fondant figurines for the character details. If you choose a 3D sculpted animal or human figure, I include internal dowel supports so the design stays sturdy during your celebration.
How I Build Your Animal Kingdom Cake
When you pick a whimsical theme, we start with my signature Italian Meringue Buttercream. Unlike standard fondant cakes that can be overly sweet or chewy, I prefer a rich buttercream finish. It offers a smooth texture and balanced sweetness while acting as the perfect canvas for 3D toppers.
For these designs, I use a combination of techniques:
- Hand-Sculpted Figurines: I build my animal and character toppers using fondant or gum paste. These are reinforced with food-safe internal wires and dowels for stability, especially for complex poses like a standing giraffe or a leaping panda.
- Texture & Staging: I use buttercream to create textures like tree bark or grass to ground your characters in their natural habitat.
- Edible Details: Whether it’s chocolate-shaving bamboo, wafer-paper butterflies, or isomalt lollipops for a unicorn mane, I add these to make the scene pop.
Planning Your Theme
I love when you throw a wild idea at me. Whether it is a specific fandom like a Naruto ramen bowl or a classic safari theme with lions and tigers, my process stays the same. If you have an image or a sketch, share it when you message me. I can replicate specific poses or customize the features, such as hair color or outfits, to match the birthday person.
Remember that figurines are for display only because of the internal supports. If you want something specific for a first birthday or a milestone event in Bengaluru, let’s chat about your ideas.
Renaé Patisserie
I’m Yeshaswini, and I run Renaé Patisserie here in Domlur. I honestly used to dislike making fondant figurines, but after lots of practice, they’ve become one of my favorite parts of creating these wild, whimsical cakes for you.
