Geometric & Modern Handmade Terracotta Jewelry
I love experimenting with clay to create clean, modern shapes that fit your everyday outfits. Here are my favorite geometric and contemporary terracotta designs.
For a modern take on traditional designs, I created this two-layer necklace inspired by the classic 'gini haar'. The mirrored terracotta coins are lightweight and catch the light beautifully, offering a chic and contemporary look.
Here is the 'gini haar' style necklace displayed on a mannequin, showing how the two layers of mirrored coins sit gracefully on the neckline.
This unique necklace features a butterfly-shaped pendant with a mandala design inside. The black, orange, and sea-green color combination is modern and striking.
Another version of the butterfly-shaped mandala necklace, this time in a cool sea-green and gold palette. The intricate design and unique shape make it a true conversation starter.
This unique choker features a geometric design with textured patterns. The combination of maroon, off-white, sky blue, and gold is both modern and elegant.
I created this modern necklace using striped circular pendants with a unique texture. This version features bright, rainbow-like stripes on a black background, making it a fun and stylish piece.
Here is another colorway for the striped circular necklace, with shades of blue, teal, and orange. It's a versatile piece that pairs well with both Indian and Western outfits.
This version of the striped necklace uses a warmer palette of pink, orange, and yellow. The textured surface adds an interesting dimension to the simple geometric design.

This necklace features a hexagonal pendant with a mandala-style flower painted in the center. The combination of pink, blue, and yellow is bright and cheerful.
About Geometric & Modern Styles
The key with these geometric pieces is the finishing. I apply a dedicated layer of water-resistant varnish to every pendant, which keeps the vibrant acrylic colors from fading even if you wear them regularly. Because these are hand-painted on baked clay, they are naturally lightweight, so you can easily wear them for a full day at the office or while running errands without feeling any strain on your neck.
Making Modern Terracotta
Many people think terracotta is only for traditional ethnic wear, but I love proving that wrong. I design these geometric sets for the modern wardrobe, moving away from heavy motifs to focus on clean lines, stripes, and bold shapes like hexagons and diamonds.
How I Create Them
Every piece begins as raw clay. I mold the shapes, sand them to smooth out the edges, and bake them in a kiln until they are sturdy. Once cooled, I hand-paint the patterns. Whether it is a striped circular pendant or a mandala-inspired diamond shape, each one takes time to layer the colors properly.
Styling & Care
These pieces work well because they are versatile. You can pair a blue and yellow diamond pendant with a crisp white kurti for a professional look, or wear the multi-colored striped sets with a casual top and jeans.
Because they are made of baked clay, they are durable but not invincible. They can crack if dropped on a hard tile floor, so I always suggest storing them in a soft pouch when you are not wearing them. Also, keep them away from direct perfume sprays, as alcohol-based liquids can affect the varnish over time. If you have a specific color combination in mind that would match your favorite office outfit, just let me know, and I can customize a set for you.
Sajjita Terracotta
I’m Sajjita, and my studio in Bidarahalli is where I spend my days turning raw clay into these colorful pieces. I don’t believe in mass-producing perfect, identical items; I believe in the small imperfections that show a human made this. When I paint these geometric lines or mandala patterns, I’m just trying to capture the modern energy of the city while keeping the rustic soul of terracotta alive.
