Home Festival Setup (Janmashtami/Ganpati)
Structure & Draping
- Frame: Lightweight wooden or PVC structure (up to 8ft x 8ft).
- Fabric: Satin or net draping with pleating work (White, Yellow, Orange, Red).
- Flooring: Red or green felt carpet for the idol area (6ft x 6ft).
Floral Decor
- Fresh Blooms: 6ft header arrangement using Roses, Marigolds, Carnations, and Banana leaves.
- Fillers: Hanging strings of artificial Mogra or Jasmine buds for volume.
Lighting & Props
- Lights: 10-12 strings of Warm White or Yellow LED fairy lights.
- Idol Stand: Basic wooden or thermocol makhar platform (up to 1ft height).
Team
- Staff: Setup and dismantling by a team of 2 workers.
Themed Community Mandal (Sarvajanik)
Stage & Set
- Platform: 15ft x 10ft wooden stage with carpet finishing.
- Backdrop: Custom fabricated plywood and flex themes (e.g., Chandrayaan, Temples).
- Ceiling: False ceiling treatment with hanging props like lanterns or planets.
Lighting & FX
- Tech: LED PAR cans (RGB), UV lights for glow effects, and focus spots.
- Effects: Smoke machine included for aartis.
Decor & Props
- Props: 3D themed elements (Rocket models, Artificial mountains, Pillars).
- Entrance: 10ft height themed entrance gate made of fiber or thermocol.
Support
- Maintenance: On call electrician support for the 10 day duration.
Large Scale Ground Event Setup
Infrastructure
- Tenting: Waterproof German Hangar or GI Sheet Shed covering 3,000 to 5,000 sq ft.
- Stage: 30ft x 20ft reinforced stage suitable for dance or Dahi Handi pyramids.
- Rigging: Box truss system for heavy sound and light equipment.
Lighting System
- Canopy: Fairy light strings covering the entire open ground area.
- Stage Rig: Sharpy beams, LED washes, and Halogens.
Crowd Control
- Seating: 300 to 500 plastic chairs with covers for VIP rows.
- Barriers: Metal mojo barriers or bamboo barricading.
- Flooring: Full ground carpeting or leveled floor for Garba.
Equipment
- Heavy Machinery: Hydraulic crane arrangement for Dahi Handi events.

Festivals, Our Way
I run Sai Mandap Decorators here in Navi Mumbai. My job? Make your festival spot look perfect, so you can just enjoy. I’ve seen all kinds of events - from tiny Ganpati at home to crazy big Navratri grounds. No matter the scale, I’ve probably handled it.
What I Do
- Ganesh Chaturthi stage decoration, all styles - traditional mandaps or wild space themes. I even do eco-friendly festival decor, like paper murti if you want to keep it green.
- For Dahi Handi and Navratri, I build big stages, waterproof outdoor event tents, proper lights and barricades for those big crowds. Navratri especially - we can make the whole ground look like a light show.
- Diwali, Janmashtami, or small pooja at home? Happy to do simple, pretty setups. Lanterns, flowers, whatever you need.
How I Work
- I don’t just hang up drapes and flowers. I set up the whole base - tents, multi-level stages, full carpeting, and seating for hundreds if needed.
- I'm used to working in our Aagri and Koli community events too. Big or small, I know how to manage local tastes and large gatherings.
Weather sometimes plays spoilsport, but I believe - dukhachi ratra pahilya shivay sukhache divas ugavat nahi (after a tough night, good days follow). I’ll put in that extra effort to make sure your day goes right.
