I don't rely on massive lighting rigs when I'm outdoors. The world is the studio. Whether we are hitting a beach in Mumbai or an urban rooftop, I use the sun as my primary tool. This means playing with intensity—using harsh, direct light to create bold, dramatic portraits or waiting for that soft, diffused glow to bring out texture in skincare and beauty shots.
The Reality of Outdoor Shoots
Outdoor photography is a game of speed. You have maybe 30 minutes of perfect light before the mood shifts. My process involves:
- Shadow Control: Using natural blocks or angles to frame the face.
- Texture Focus: Capturing the interplay of wind and hair to create movement.
- Raw Skin: I prioritize high-end retouching that keeps your skin looking like skin, not plastic. We fix the blemishes, not your humanity.
