Twinning and Family Ethnic Sets
Getting the whole family in sync for a wedding or festival. Whether it is mom and daughter matching Pattu Pavadai sets or coordinated colors for a larger group, we design these looks to feel special and look picture-perfect.
This is a complete mother-daughter twinning set I designed for a client's special occasion. It features a traditional pink and gold silk saree with two hand-embroidered blouses, one for the mother and a matching one for her little girl, creating a cohesive and elegant family look.
Here you can see the detail on the child's blouse from the matching set. I designed this Pattu Pavadai top with the same rich pink silk and intricate hand embroidery as the mother's, ensuring the scalloped neckline and patterns were perfectly scaled for a comfortable and adorable fit.
While this little one's dress was a standalone piece, this video captures the essence of what family celebrations are all about. Seeing her walk with her parents in a custom-designed yellow frock shows how a special outfit can become part of a cherished family memory.
Coordinating outfits for a large group is a fun challenge I love to take on. For this sangeet ceremony, I designed custom outfits for this group of lovely ladies and the young boy, using a complementary color palette and varied styles to ensure each person's individuality shone through while maintaining a cohesive look.
About Twinning & Family Sets
When I design family sets, I focus on balancing the look rather than forcing identical outfits. For a mother-daughter duo, I might keep the heavy hand embroidery for mom's blouse while simplifying the motif for the little one, ensuring the same fabric and color palette without weighing her down. We chat, sketch out the coordination, and then tailor everything so everyone feels comfortable in their own piece.
Finding the right harmony for family ethnic wear is about more than just matching colors. My goal is to create a cohesive appearance where each family member looks unique but connected.
I work with various fabrics like silk, tulle, and brocade to build these sets. For weddings and Sangeet ceremonies, I often coordinate outfits by using a common color palette or shared embroidery themes. For instance, I might use the same rich pink silk for a mother's saree blouse and a child's Pattu Pavadai top, linking the two through the same hand-made Krosha tassels.
Comfort is a priority, especially for children. Every kids outfit includes a soft cotton lining to prevent itching, and I include extra margins in my tailoring so the clothes can be adjusted as they grow.
