Inside the Studio: My Creative Process
Welcome to my organized chaos. This is where I turn ideas into wearable art, one sneaker and handbag at a time.
A little video to help you get to know me. I'm Ridhii, a Mumbai-based artist who uses sneakers and bags as my canvas. Welcome to my organized chaos.
People often ask if being an artist is a "full-time" job. For me, it has to be. Believing in my work is what drives me, and moments like this, connecting with people who appreciate my art, make it all worth it.
My room is my art studio, and it can get pretty chaotic. This video shows the "before" and the start of my process to reorganize my space to make it a more inspiring place to create.
Part two of my studio revamp. Here I'm unboxing some new decor items to give my workspace a fresh look. Creating an environment that fuels my creativity is super important to my process.
It was such an honor to be invited as a judge for the Sole Expressions competition at Mithibai Kshitij. It felt amazing to be on the other side, evaluating the incredible talent of other artists.
A quick "point of view" video showing my outfit and vibe for a Sunday brunch event at Extra Butter. Even when I'm attending an event, my love for sneaker culture and style is always a part of me.
About The Artist's Process
You see the finished sneakers on social media, but the reality behind the scenes is a mix of paint bottles, sketches, and late-night experiments. My studio in Mumbai is where I turn 'organized chaos' into custom art. If you have ever wondered how a plain pair of kicks becomes a personal statement, this is where the magic happens before I pack them up or head out to a live event.
People often ask me if being an artist is a real job. I have been answering that question since 2022. The truth is that consistency is the hardest part of this gig. My studio is my sanctuary and my workspace, filled with everything from coffee-dyed prototypes to piles of Angelus leather paints.
Whether I am prepping for a high-volume Adidas activation or working on a luxury handbag, the process is intentional. I strip the factory finish, apply professional-grade paints that handle Mumbai rains, and focus on the details that make the piece yours. Art is the only language that needs no words, and I believe my studio environment is where that language forms.
I also step out of this room to judge design competitions and host workshops, which keeps my perspective fresh. It is not just about painting; it is about creating memories for the person wearing the item. If you are looking to get your sneakers or bags customized, you are tapping into that same creative flow I cultivate here. For brands, I bring this same energy and precision directly to your event floor.
Ridhii Makkar
I'm Ridhii, and I treat sneakers and bags like a blank canvas. I'm a Mumbai-based artist who refuses to believe art isn't a full-time profession. Let's make something unique together.
