The Artist's Sketchbook: Creative Process & Inspiration

Everything starts with a feeling, a sketch, or a random spark. This is where I piece together the mood, the reference, and the technical details before turning them into something you can wear.

My process often begins with a pencil and paper. Here is a practice sketch inspired by classical art, where I focus on anatomy and form, which helps inform the structure and drape of my garments.

I also create handmade accessories. These are Nordic-inspired pendants I crafted from brass, hand-carving symbols and finishing them with an oxidized coating for an ancient, weathered look.

Inspiration comes from everywhere. A rainy day visit to the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney provided a perfect mood of gloom and beauty that often finds its way into my work.

Another moment from my visit to the art gallery. The architecture, the weather, and the art itself all combine to create a feeling that I channel back into my designs.

About The Artist's Sketchbook: Process & Inspiration

Before we pick fabrics or sew a single stitch, we have to find the 'why.' My process usually starts with a rough sketch or an obscure mood board, whether it is a classical anatomy study or a gloomy rainy day vibe, to ensure the final garment feels like you, not just another piece off the rack.
