Master the art of human portraiture through step-by-step sketching. From mapping facial proportions to detailed pencil shading, we help you draw what you actually see.

We are incredibly proud to showcase this self portrait by Shahbaaz, one of our youngest portrait drawing students at just 9 years old. His progress shows that with the right guidance, age is no barrier to skill.

Here is Shahbaaz in action, using the grid method to ensure accurate proportions for his self portrait. This foundational technique helps young artists tackle complex subjects with confidence.

The final pencil sketch by our 13 year old student, created from a reference photograph. This piece showcases his ability to capture a likeness and use shading to create a three dimensional effect.

This is the original photograph the student used as a reference for his self portrait. We teach our students how to translate a photo into a hand drawn piece of art.

A candid shot of the young artist deeply focused on the shading process, using a blending stump to create smooth transitions in his self portrait.

A student from our human anatomy class proudly displays her finished pencil shading portrait. She has successfully captured the subject's expression and hair texture.

This video montage shows several of our students practicing different pencil shading projects, from human portraits to animal sketches. It highlights how learning to shade improves observation and patience.

An adult student in our General Art Foundation course uses a reference to practice a detailed eye drawing. We welcome learners of all ages who want to build or improve their art skills.

About The Art of the Portrait

If you’ve been sketching for a while but feel your portraits fall flat, it usually comes down to the fundamentals of proportion and light. In our studio, we don't rely on generic shortcuts; we use the grid method to help you map facial structure accurately from day one. I am very particular about your pencil grip and shading technique—you won't find us teaching stick figures here. Whether you are using graphite or charcoal, we push you to observe the human anatomy properly, identifying where the shadow falls and how to build a face that has depth, not just a flat outline.
