Whether you are a pacer looking for speed or a spinner needing flight, your bowling action starts with the basics. We refine your run-up, grip, and release to make you a consistent wicket-taker.

Part two of our fast bowling grips series. Here we cover the variations: the leg-cutter, the deceptive knuckle ball, the split-finger slower ball, and the off-cutter.

A guide to left-arm spinner grips. We teach the orthodox spin for consistent turn, the top spin for extra bounce, the under-cutter for skid, and the arm ball to surprise the batsman.

Mastering off-spin grips is about creating deception. We cover the standard off-spinner, the top-spinner for bounce, the under-cutter that skids on, and the arm ball that swings away.

Leg-spin is the most difficult art, so variations are key. I teach the classic leg-break, the googly, the top-spinner for dip, and the slider that skids through low and fast.

Using a two-piece ball to teach swing bowling. I explain how holding the shiny side determines outswing or inswing, and how a proper seam position and wrist release are crucial for movement.

A bowler's run-up must be a strong, straight line. Any deviation wastes energy. We work on keeping the run-up straight and powerful to build momentum into the delivery.

Drills for a fast bowler's run-up and follow-through. We use poles to ensure the bowler runs in a straight line and completes their action fully.

Work in progress on a young bowler's run-up. We focus on the fundamentals to build a solid and repeatable action from the ground up.

Breaking down the basics of a bowling action. We work on the jump, ensuring the knee breaks on landing to transfer energy efficiently through the crease.

An out-and-out fast bowler is a great sight in cricket. Here's a young pacer in the middle of his action, generating speed and power.

About The Art of Bowling

Most bowlers lose pace and accuracy before they even reach the crease because their run-up isn't a straight line. At my academy, we use pole drills to lock your alignment, and we don't move on until your release is consistent. If your foundation isn't straight, your ball won't be either. You need a repeatable action, not just raw effort.
