Handmade Home Accents: Traditional Decor for Your Living Room
Bring the warmth of the Thar Desert into your home. We use traditional Pakka and Suf embroidery to turn surplus fabric into pieces that carry the spirit of our villages.
We are proud that our handcrafted cushion covers, featuring Pakka embroidery from Rajasthan, were chosen to be part of the display at the India Olympic House at the Paris Olympics 2024.
In many artisan homes, the most meaningful pieces are those made for their daughters' trousseaus. This vibrant red ghagra choli, with its intricate hand embroidery, is a beautiful source of inspiration for our own designs.
This is a view of an artisan's home in the village of Pugal, Rajasthan. The simple, beautiful architecture and the surrounding desert landscape are a constant source of inspiration for our work.
About Artisanal Home Accents
Because these pieces are hand-embroidered using dense chain stitches known as Pakka, they aren't just decorative; they are built for daily life. You can safely wash these cushion covers by hand, and the heavy cotton backing means they hold their shape through years of use.
Our home collection is a direct reflection of life in the Thar Desert. We operate as a collective of over 2,000 women from Rajasthan villages, and every piece we create is a part of our effort to build sustainable livelihoods. We do not use factories. Every cushion cover and wall hanging is stitched by hand in our village centers, where tradition meets everyday utility.
We practice a zero-waste philosophy. Most of our home accents are made from upcycled cotton, which we transform into vibrant patchwork designs or clean, minimalist styles. Because we use scrap material, the patchwork patterns on our cushion covers are often unique, ensuring that the piece you bring into your home is one-of-a-kind.
The embroidery techniques we use, such as Pakka and Suf, are passed down through generations. Pakka, or the solid chain stitch, provides high durability, which is why we recommend these pieces for high-traffic areas like living rooms or guest spaces. Our torans and wall hangings are finished with mirror work and traditional motifs, adding a touch of rustic warmth to your space.
We believe in the true cost of craft. When you purchase from us, your money directly supports the women who stitched your piece, providing them with fair, ethical wages. We avoid mass production to keep our environmental footprint small, which means our collections are limited by the speed of our hands rather than the speed of a machine.
