Cafe & Restaurant Interior Design
A great cafe is about the vibe, the energy, and the memories people carry home. Over the last 20 years, I have turned many culinary visions into spaces that balance style with real-world function across Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi.
Taking a look back at one of my first major projects, a vibrant cafe in Bandra. This space taught me so much about creating an atmosphere. From the exposed brick walls to the eclectic mix of seating, every choice was about building a quirky, comfortable vibe that people would remember.
My design journey has taken me through so many different types of spaces, but it all started with a cafe. This video montage shows the evolution of my work, from that first cafe to homes and offices, all connected by the belief that design is soulwork.
About Cafes & Restaurants
When I design a cafe, I look at the traffic flow long before I pick a color palette. If your service staff bumps into guests or the kitchen operations clash with the seating area, the design has failed. I prioritize efficient layouts where commercial kitchen waterproofing, high-traffic flooring, and guest comfort coexist without the usual site chaos.
Designing for the Vibe and the Hustle
Designing a dining space is not just about choosing furniture. It is about creating a rhythm. Whether it is a quirky vintage cafe in Bandra or a high-end bistro in Churchgate, my focus is on building an atmosphere that encourages people to linger.
The Technical Foundation
Beauty is the first thing people see, but durability is what keeps your business running. My cafe design packages start at ₹4500 per sq. ft. and include:
- Strategic Zoning: I optimize the layout for traffic flow, ensuring service areas do not interfere with the dining experience.
- Material Selection: I use commercial-grade, high-traffic tiles and rustic wooden finishes that withstand heavy footfall while keeping the aesthetic consistent.
- Bar & Kitchen: I oversee the fabrication of bar counters with Quartz or Granite tops and implement heavy-duty wiring and waterproofing for commercial kitchens.
- Lighting: I plan layered lighting circuits—mixing dimmable warm lights with decorative pendants to shift the mood from day to night.
Why the Process Matters
I am hands-on at every site. My team knows that if the finishing is even slightly off, I will ask for it to be removed. Design is often messy—it involves noise, dust, and hard work—but this is where the transformation happens. When we get the entrance right, build the perfect bar counter, and choose materials that last, the result is a space that does not just look good on day one, but continues to perform for years.
