About Developing Future Stars: DDCA & Women's Cricket
Youth cricket requires more than just gym strength, it needs structured load management to prevent burnout. My approach with the DDCA U-19 squad focuses on tracking every session, ensuring these young athletes build speed and power without risking injuries during a demanding tournament season.
The Professional Standard
Working with the DDCA U-19 and U-15 women's teams is about more than just fitness, it is about professional accountability. When I walk onto that field, I am not just a trainer, I am part of a support staff responsible for the long-term careers of these young cricketers. My role involves constant communication with coaches and physios to ensure we are not overtraining.
Why Data Matters in Youth Cricket
At this level, you cannot guess. We use biomechanical screening and performance metrics to identify energy leaks in a bowling action or a stride length that could lead to injury. My goal is to teach these athletes how to 'read' their own bodies. We focus on:
- Movement Literacy: Teaching correct patterns for squats, lunges, and sprints before adding external load.
- Load Management: Monitoring acute to chronic workload ratios to keep the team on the pitch and away from the physio room.
- Mental Toughness: The grind is hard, and travel is exhausting. I emphasize that 'quit mat karna' isn't just a slogan, it is the discipline required to show up even when you are tired.
Translating Science to the Field
Whether it is preparing for a high-pressure quarterfinal or a domestic tournament, the gym work must transfer to the cricket pitch. We train for rotational power for batting, acceleration for quick singles, and shoulder stability for fielding. Everything we do in the facility at the VAULT or on the ground has a specific purpose for their performance as cricketers. It is about being better than you were yesterday, one session at a time.
Prravesh Rohilla
I am Prravesh. For me, coaching at the DDCA level is about instilling the right habits from day one. I don't just build athletes, I help them understand their own bodies so they can stay in the game longer.
